I just love how so many people can't resist coming to the OPEN CARRY forum and tells us all the reasons they have for not carrying openly. If someone is looking for reasons not open carry, maybe that should be discussed in the concealed carry forum? I don't see too many of us who open carry going to the concealed carry section and telling all the concealed carry people why we open carry and why they should not hide their gun.
And you won't, either. It is strange how those who are ardent CC'ers tend to side with the anti's against OC'ers. One would think those of us who carry, regardless of how we carry, would feel we're all in the same boat with this. I do both, though I OC almost always and I have what I believe to be very good reasons for this. I would never dream of chastising a CC'er as some of them do to OC'ers. I support both modes of carry and would hope everyone else who carries would do the same.
I completely agree.
There are a lot of CC'ers who support OC'ing even if they do not do it themselves, there are a lot of OC'ers who support CC'ing and most likely also do it themselves as well. It would be great if it was just like that...but alas it is not. There are a lot of CC'ers who are against OC, and lead the anti-gunners into trying to abolish the 2A. I have yet to come by any OC who is against CC.
And OK I give in, here are my responses:

I'm not carrying this weapon to impress or scare folks; I'm carrying it to protect my children, family and self. To each his/her own on this matter.
I open carry. I'm not carrying this weapon to impress or scare folk either; unless of course they are a would be criminal, and then I hope I scare them enough to leave me alone, if you are not a criminal, there is nothing to be scared of. I'm carrying to protect my family, and myself, as well.
I don't carry a weapon so I can be judge jury and executioner.

Legal or not I do not favor open carry, at least for me. To me open carry is like playing poker with all cards dealt face up. The more unassuming and in the background I can be the more I like it. If the time comes, again, that someone needs to see that I have a weapon it will be when they are looking down the barrel with that dumb "What happened?" look on their face. But that is just my opinion, of course.
You know someone else brought this up before. I must say, it is a great analogy. So here is the deal, it is like playing poker, it's always "all in with everything you own," with cards dealt face up, and I have 4 Aces King high every single time. It's not the greatest hand in poker, but a really good one, would you want to pick me to play poker with? I do not like to play my poker face and gamble with my life. I'd rather completely avoid seeing their "What happened?" face, because I will be deterring them way before I get to see it.

I agree with covering it up and this is why. I live in a city of 25k, so for me, believing that there will not be any anxious, uninformed citizen that will call th police is too much for me to handle. I am a graduate of the Ohio Peace Officers Traning Academy and do not feel like telling an uninformed citizen or officer the law. For me CC is the way to go, no one knows and evl doers have no idea until they are face to face with a Glock. I carry a Glock 19 IWB and A S&W bodyguard in a Blackhawk ankle holster.
I live in a city of roughly 200k people, I have not had a single police officer come up to me, but I do not know if someone called them. If they did, they were probably set straight as to what the Constitution of the United States says. For me OC is the way to go, because I will avoid having to stick my Jericho in someone's face due to deterrence. Seeing as how many more CC have to stick their firearm in someone's face compared to OC'ers, I do not see any reason to make me more of a target by hiding my firearm.
