Traveling with my gun in California for vacation legal question?

With the strict California carry laws and even though I will have on me a CCW from Nevada and non resident Florida CCW, having a gun with me while traveling in my SUV on vacation in California and traveling through California, I needed a solution that would keep me on the right side of the California law. So since I have the SUV with no trunk I bought two NanoVault 100 gun safes. Perfect size for my Glock 26. The NanoVault 100 comes with a 1500 lb. test security cable that will go around any anchor point in your SUV, I am using the third row seat hooks (they aren't going to come loose) :) I put my unloaded model 26 in one safe and the two loaded clips in the other anchored and locked case. This should cover the California law, if anyone still thinks I would be in violation of any California laws with this solution please post your comments. Also a question for you experts. If I hook these gun safe anchor cables around the passenger seat instead of in the very back of my SUV, so they can be accessed and then unlocked from my position in the drivers seat in an emergency, would I still be in compliance with the law since the safes are not removable and locked?

Thanks

You will be just fine, you actually don't have to have the ammo seperate, it just has to be out of the firearm and in a locked container.

You should be fine. I wouldn't risk having them accessible from the driver's seat, though. Northern CA counties are much more lenient than Southern CA. Your CCW not good here.

Either the ammo or the gun needs to be locked up.

Before I left the state I did it all the time. I believe for long guns they just have to be unloaded... Although that law may have changed recently but I used to bring my shotguns to sporting clays tournaments in my SUV every weekend and handguns to the range. Either the ammo or the gun needs to be locked up.

You will be okay, what I did is download a CCW app on my tablet and my phone and it's good for all 50 states each state you go through you will be able to find all the CC laws in each states.

Years ago when I lived in Missouri and had the Missouri and non resident Florida, when I would plan a trip I would go on line and print the rules for every state I was traveling through on vacation. Just in case I ran into a officer that was not up to date on the law. Use to be a LEO in Kansas and like any other occupation you have all kinds of people and skill sets you may be exposed too. All MD's graduate from med school, some at the top of their class some at the bottom :)

I like that ideal and when I plan my next trip I think I will do this to.
