Traveling to ohio.

I am going to ohio for the weekend. I live in indiana and hold a ltcp. I'm taking my gun for protection . Can I legally oc? I hate the fact that I can't cc. But it wont does good in its case either.

You can open carry outside your vehicle. Inside your vehicle the gun must be unloaded and carried in one of the following ways: (1) In a closed package, box, or case; (2) In a compartment that can be reached only by leaving the vehicle; (3) In plain sight and secured in a rack or holder made for the purpose;

In addition, all magazines for the gun must be unloaded as well:
(5)”Unloaded” means any of the following:

(a) No ammunition is in the firearm in question, and no ammunition is loaded into a magazine or speed loader that may be used with the firearm in question and that is located anywhere within the vehicle in question, without regard to where ammunition otherwise is located within the vehicle in question. For the purposes of division (K)(5)(a) of this section, ammunition held in stripper-clips or in en-bloc clips is not considered ammunition that is loaded into a magazine or speed loader.

So if I understand this correctly. If I travel to Ohio I can open carry outside my vehicle. I have a CHL in Texas and travel to Ohio a couple times a year. So in a vehicle it must be unloaded and locked up but outside the vehicle I can carry open. Interesting.

The gun does not have to be locked up in the vehicle. "(1) In a closed package, box, or case;"

Well im in ohio and havnt oced yet. But I feel naked with out my 1911. uugg! I hate ohio gun laws. Lol!

I think we should fight for reciprocity. Just have a small course that certifys us without all the licensing cost for ot of state crap.

I have been to many different states as a truck driver... and have interacted with police from many states.... not ONCE did any of them even check to see if my permit was valid or not in their state...... None of them even asked to see it (my permit)
