I'm a S.Carolina resident. I'm headed up with the family to the NASCAR hall of fame in Charlotte tomorrow. Would like some concrete info, please, on how to properly carry a pistol in a vehicle in N.Carolina, please. Thanks!!

If you read it carefully, it specifically says it may not be a good idea to carry it in the open. That seems to me a very good suggestion as to why.

If it's in the trunk or in the back seat, it is not available so why not just carry it in the trunk.

Also, it says that certain counties may have tighter restrictions and open carrying in a car may not be legal.

The link your reading is about CC NOT open carry. If you have it concealed them it MUST be away from you..PERIOD.. unless you have a CCW,CHp But this being a OC state you CAN carry openly, dash, passenger seat console,

No you can't.. Carry on your pass. seat or on your console. Or on your hip(just dont cover it). When you get outour of your car put it in your glove box.

Car will be full of people. Appears it's either dash board or not at all. Don't have an open carry holster. Even if I did, the mrs. would go ape $h!+ if I carried openly on my hip. Thanks for the help!!!!

So, open carry in NC....can I use my pocket holster, stuff my pistol partially in my pants, leaving it clearly visible?

Thanks for the reply. I read that....it was like reading Japanese stereo instructions. From what I gather, it's supposed to be out in the open??

In the open or locked away. You can lock it in the glove box, but it really needs to be locked. You just can't put it in the glovebox and close it as it is assumed you would still be able to gain immediate access. Locked up with the key put away somewhere.

Open in plain view, or locked where the driver cannot reach from the driver's seat. I once was stopped in Charlotte for a burned out tail light. My 1911 was cocked and locked in plain view on the passenger seat. The rookie cop wanted to arrest me for "displaying a firearm in a dangerous and menacing manner". Seems the hammer being back was menacing to him. Thankfully his Sergeant knew better.

That would've been frustrating.
