Traveling interstate via automobile with a handgun

I was wondering if anyone knows anything about the legalities of traveling through states that do not share reciprocity with your own issuing state? What are the procedures to do so and so on... on my upcoming voyage I know of two states, that I'll be traveling through, that don't share reciprocity with my state, so what are my options? I still want to carry throughout as much of my trip as possible given I'll be a tourist in a new city and for peace of mind... If anyone has any information on this matter I would appreciate it thanks.

First go online and research the laws of the two states that don't accept your CC. Then at the last rest stop before entering one of them discreetly put yourself in compliance with their laws. When you have left the state go back to CC. I know it is a pain but beats a felony charge.

Or....

18 USC 926A (Federal law):

18 USC § 926A - Interstate transportation of firearms | LII / Legal Information Institute

"Notwithstanding any other provision of any law or any rule or regulation of a State or any political subdivision thereof, any person who is not otherwise prohibited by this chapter from transporting, shipping, or receiving a firearm shall be entitled to transport a firearm for any lawful purpose from any place where he may lawfully possess and carry such firearm to any other place where he may lawfully possess and carry such firearm if, during such transportation the firearm is unloaded, and neither the firearm nor any ammunition being transported is readily accessible or is directly accessible from the passenger compartment of such transporting vehicle: Provided, That in the case of a vehicle without a compartment separate from the driver’s compartment the firearm or ammunition shall be contained in a locked container other than the glove compartment or console."

Unload the gun and lock the unloaded gun and ammo in the trunk, or in a lock box if your vehicle does not have a trunk. NEVER consent to a search of the locked location containing the gun. Inform a police officer of the presence of the gun only if required by the law of the state that you are in.

Call the State's Department of Safety, they can give you the answers you need.

It may be different in different states. In Washington it is the Department of Licensing. In addition, if you call ANYBODY, you risk the chance of only getting the person's opinion who answers the phone, which may or may not accurately reflect what the statutes says.

I would just look on Handgunlaw.us if it was me that was traveling.
