Travel from GA to VT

I have GA CCW Licence. How do I legally carry a handgun to VT and back. Does it mean I have to keep it in a locked guncase inside my pickup in states that do not recognize GA's ccw.

In va it can be carried in the car out in the open,i would assune even though you're not a va resident you can do that as well,but im not lawyer so dont quote me

yes, you are correct in states where you permits are not honored you need to unload and lock the weapons and transport them in your trunk. these states would be MD,NJ,NY
depending on where in GA you are it would be wise to avoid NJ which is easily accomplished

The only states I see between here and VT that reciprocate with Georgia are TN, KY, NC and PA.

Also completely avoid NYC. The LEO there do not listen to the fed safe passage law

Once you bypass NY, CT, and MA you're all right. Just keep it unloaded locked and out of sight/ passenger control, and don't speed. Federal law (FOPA google this) will keep you legally ok. Some states just like to break stones. Mass Sate PD are notorious for being real ball busters.
