Transporting on person in VA

So I have a basic question and have checked a lot of sources but can't find a clear cut defined answer, I have my CCW as a resident in VA and wanted to know if I can have my firearm holstered on my side while driving. Most of the websites provide info on transporting without a permit and basically state with a CCW anywhere in the vehicle is acceptable, I guess I'm looking for "anywhere in the vehicle even on the permit holder" just to clarify my suspicions.

Thanks in advance, just confused on the wording!

Have you checked with the government department that issued you the permit? Like , as in a phone call? I carry in VA and I carry while I drive. Why couldn’t you?

Is there a law that says you can not carry a handgun in a vehicle with a carry permit? Do you understand what a carry permit is? Do you understand the difference between carrying a (loaded) firearm and transporting a (unloaded) firearm?

When in doubt, consult the criminal code of your state. See http://www.handgunlaw.us/states/virginia.pdf for the references to your state's criminal code.

As long as you have any CCW permits/licenses required, there is no state that prohibits you for carrying the firearm in a holster on your person in a vehicle. That's exactly why some states require the permit - is for you to legally do so. In some states it's legal to do so without a permit/license.

Perfect exactly what I was looking for! Thanks guys

As a VA resident with a valid VA carry permit, yes, you can carry a holstered loaded firearm on your person while in a vehicle. I refer you to the aforementioned links to VA law as source material.

I wish you peace :)
