Transporting Ammuniton across State Lines

Have been doing some research but I cannot seem to find if there is any laws for transporting ammunition in a personal vehicle. Understanding there are exceptions per CFR Regs. for limited quantities of transport of commercially transported HAZ-MAT.
Any input please????

If you need to take advantage of FOPA protection, FOPA requires the ammunition to be separated from the occupants of the vehicle (not from the gun as many like to believe). Other than that, there are no Federal laws regarding transporting ammunition in a personal vehicle.

Navy is correct. There are no Federal laws prohibiting the transport of ammo in a private vehicle. I assume the OP was referring to transporting his own ammo for hunting or range use.
