Traffic stop in NH

I was stopped at 6:15 AM the other day, and really didn't know why. I had my SR40c tucked into the door panel and as the officer approached I already had my license and registration ready, as an afterthought I offered my pistol permit. He asked me if I had a weapon and where it was. I showed him, and he said the reason he stopped me was 74 in a 40 mph zone, I apologized and waited for my ticket. He came back in less than two minutes, handed me my stuff, and advised me that I need to "slow down a little", and have a nice day. Not sure if the permit had anything to do with the pleasant encounter, but, maybe. I do go a "little slower" through that town now. Anyone else have an experience?

Been stopped several times where i have been carrying and declared such to the officer. Every time a warning. When stopped when not carrying always a ticket. Hmmm wonder if there is a pattern here.

Each one of my warnings as been because we get to discussing firearms and chat for 5 to ten minutes about them. My theory is the more they get to know you the more likely you are to get a warning. if they just ask for license, registration, insurance and walk back to their vehicle you can be pretty sure you are getting a ticket!

Got pulled whole on the motorcycle for 45 in a 35. Had my DL and permit ready when he came up to me. He asked to see my weapon, I lifted my jacket to show him, he handed my stuff back and told me " keep the rubber side down". No idea if it was the weapon or if he road too...or both.

Yup 74 in a 40. Thought for sure I'd get a must appear ticket.

3 years ago I was driving to work and saw lights behind me. I thought for sure that I was gonna get arrested because I was doing a little over 110. He calmly walked up, looked at me a little strange and says, "road's flooded ahead. You'll have to take G west to cty D and come around on 12." I said "thank you." He turned around and went back to his cruiser. I floored it the whole way there.

I don't recklessly speed, so I don't have any experience like the op.

All my other traffic stops have ended up like navy, though it's been 3 years since I've been pulled over.

re: God getting blamed for things - it's not about this life, it's about the next. The most secular thing you can do here is cling to and hold dear your earthly life.

I'm going to add this Comment, To the Thread!

CCW Holders need to lead by example, Slow down. Your Vehicle can also be used as a weapon.
The anti-gunners could say that CCWers are known for breaking the laws. By speeding and driving recklessly.

I know it doesn't seem like such a big deal, but it could be used agisnt us. And 74 mph in a 40mph zone (34+) over. I'm sorry, but that is just Reckless!!

Twice I have volunteered that I was carrying and both times I received a ticket. When I was younger I didn't inform about a pellet gun and that resulted with me staring down the barrel of pistol being pointed by a cop that was visibly shaking.

I don't get pulled-over much, but two times I was over the limit in last 15 years, I told the officer I must have had my head up my butt, and they both smiled and said to slow down.

74 in a 40 would get some serious insurance hike points here. You got off lucky man. That could have been a very serious moving violation in AR, if the officer wanted to pursue it.

Not weapons related; but what the hell.

I was taking my stuff from DC to Pa to leave it with my parents because I had orders to go pick up a free set of jungle boots. I had two women who were old college friends with me. We were going to spend the weekend on my parents boat on the Chesapeake Bay.

Beltway around Baltimore. Speed limit dropped 10 MPH and I really did not see the sign. Ticketed and had to go go pay it.

Back on the road. Entering PA. At border speed limit changed from 70 to 60. And I was actually doing more like 80. Came over a rise just inside the border and there was a Pa State Cop in the middle of my lane with a radar gun. Not a smart move but I missed him. I sure hope he got further training later. I commented to my companions that a non-optimal situation had just occurred. Actually I used fewer (like one) words. Flashing lights from the side ahead.

Officer came up to my window for license and registration. My military ID was in my wallet so license and ID were exposed at the same time. Officer said, so you are in the military. I said yes. He looked uncomfortable. One of my companions pointed out to him that I was just going to my parents to store my stuff before taking a plane to Nam. Officer really really did not look happy to be there. Said the other officer would have to look at things. Went away, spent some time, came back. Noted that I really should keep my speed down. I actually did have a pistol in the car going to storage, but that issue never came up.

I continued on with a real appreciation for the fact that there were some citizens that did not feel the urge to spit on me when they found out I was in the military. Different time; different useless war.
