And he had a blast. Actually he said he "thoroughly enjoyed himself and we ought to do it more often" so I think it means the same thing!

Jacob trying the indoor range and wanted to start at about 22'.

And I must say I think he did spectacularly considering this is the 1st time he's ever fired a gun.

We decided to try a different range and came across a competition at the 300 yard range and it was awesome...

We finally made it to the outdoor range where Jacob wanted to hit some steel. And let me tell you, I think he did a tad better than I did. I was impressed. He and I had a fantastic father/son day.....I love you peanut!

Nice! Encourage and support him to spend more time at the range. It's healthy and wholesome fun!

I started my son at the age of 9.....Good Times!
Keep up the good work.
Have him try a 12 gauge shotgun next...He literally will have a BLAST! :)

He actually said, "This beats playing video games any day" and "Dad, if you want I can help and chip in for ammo so we can go more often".

This was the absolute nicest father/son day we had in a real long time.

My wife and I had our 10 year old granddaughter visit us last year for a camping trip. When we got back we took her shooting (S&W 22) to a indoor range. And same thing she had a blast. She told us that this was the most fun she had on her whole vacation. Is coming again this July and cannot wait to go shooting with us again.

My partners were divorced when I was four...my mom basically raised me and my little sister. When I was 12, my mom bought me a Mossberg .22 single-shot rifle...I still have it. Mom was on her rifle team at college during WWII. Familiarity with shooting made life a lot easier for me when I qualified with the M16 and the Model 1911 in the Navy (I was a Corpsman). I just purchased my first 1911 last month, a Para GI Expert. My mom passed on at the ripe old age of 86 four years ago...I thank her for teaching me how to shoot.

Well done, Dad! When he's older he won't remember the particulars of the trip, but he'll have fond memories of a great day with his dad. I suggest that you let him chip in on ammo. He will feel like a partner, and it will be the difference between saying "My dad took me to go shooting" and "Me and my dad went shooting."
