What an imbecile. He must be from England too. Media piece of crap.

Tom Brokaw: It’s ‘Far-Reaching’ to Think You Need Guns to Fight Back Against the Government.

NBC’s Tom Brokaw said Thursday it’s “far-reaching” to think the American people need guns to fight back against the government.

Brokaw said on MSNBC’s “Andrea Mitchell Reports” that one of the main arguments pro-gun advocates cite — that the Second Amendment is meant to protect against a tyrannical government — is pretty outlandish.

He said he agrees with retired Army Gen. Stanley McChrystal who supports “serious action” to curb gun violence and said military-grade weaponry doesn’t belong in civilian hands.

“The response to that was, ‘I have to keep my weapon because the government’s going to come and try to take it away from me, and I have to be able to fight back when that happens,’” Brokaw said. “Well that’s the most far-reaching thing you can possibly imagine.”

He continued, “If we get to a stage where storm troopers show up on your doorstep, it’s about a lot more guns, by the way, it’s anarchy in this country.”

Put him on the same ship with Piers.

Of course an Army General wouldn't want "military grade" weapons in the hands of civilians. He would have to face those weapons if the government tried to take over.

What does the government have to fear if law abiding citizens have military grade weapons? They only have to fear them if they are attacking us...is that why? Because they want to attack us?

But just like the election, the majority of people in this country are apathetic and blind, so the government get's away with whatever they want. It's not that the People don't want them...they just don't care enough about their life or freedom.

The have been indoctrinated to believe the government is established to take care of the needs of its citizens. Look to government for all your needs. It's not fair if some one is rich and you are poor. It's not fair if you are sick and some one else is healthy. The government will level the playing field.

I saw a sticker on eBay that read: Our Founding Fathers Would Be Shooting By Now

When you sit up in the lofty atmosphere of the elitists like Brokaw does, everything the "little people" think is ridiculous. We must continue to send the message that we will not go away and we will not be quiet. America is already overrun with sheeple... I, for one, refuse to bow to the powers-that-be just because they think I should. I am a free man... I am an intelligent man... and I am tired of the hoplophobic elite telling me what to think.

"When people fear the government, there is tyranny. When the government fears the people, there is liberty." - Thomas Jefferson

I think that Army General is deluded if he thinks the average gun owner has military grade weapons in his/her home and kudos to those that do. I wish I had some M-16's, M203's, M249's, M110's, NVG's, RPG's, everyone's favorites--miniguns aka chaingun, M107's and M109's, AA-12's, stinger missiles, mortars, a Humvee and a UAV. Why shouldn't we be as equipped or better equipped than our fascist govt? What I think is funny is that govt is as scared of us as we are of them--a good thing.

WE need to keep in mind as stated earlier, that he, Mr. Brokaw, is in a class with the upper level of politicians in OUR country. This is the level where money is power. WE the lower levels apparently have no idea what we need according to Them.
SIMPLY, WE NEED LESS OF THEM! Less Government! and Less of people like them.
Now start a fight and let's see who they stand behind? Some one with a gun? or someone trying to talk their way out of the paper sack they are in?

It's a little ironic that Tom supported civil rights in the 1960s, but is against civil rights related to the second amendment.

And ironic as well that this is the man who went on and on about the greatest generation - thanks a lot Tom. So what are we to you? The generation that must be babysat? The generation that should trust the government regardless of the warning signs?
The members of that Greatest Generation, like my father, would kick your a$$ for spewing the malarkey you just did.

Idiot.

Nice!

-and I add one more name to my ban list today...never like him much anyway.

And it's a handsome sticker too.
I bet the seller is selling out.

I want one.

A quote from the movie, ' accepted'. Lewis Black tells students " if you're rich the government will protect every buck you make and every **** you take". Ain't that the truth?
