Time to give thanks?

The United States of America is about to celebrate a grand old celebration where Europeana set out to drive Indians out of their homes, eat all their corn , rape and pillage their villages, as well as bring unheard of diseases , and on this day we give thanks that the Indians didn't have the firearms to prevent us from establishing this great nation

The indian/colony thing in regard to thanksgiving is very much misunderstood courtesy of our great education/indoctrination scheme.

While at the library some years ago I read a chapter of a book that was a recount of the history of Thanksgiving involving a 'governor' of a colony that ended the communal system that nearly starved them to death. Then, more recently I heard Limbaugh discussing the giving of a plot of land to each family effectively creating a capitalistic system and how it provided more productivity and so on - and it meshed with what I remember reading! The indian thing I suppose, as Limbaugh states, is simply to promote diversity and create another way to diminish this country in the heads of mindless kids so they can grow up indoctrinated to post anti-American posts here...

Anyway, here's a link, he explains it better than I ever could: Rush Limbaugh | First Thanksgiving | Video | Mediaite

A little rusty on the history, are we?

Thanksgiving, purportedly, is the celebration of Thanks given to the Indians for saving the Pilgrims from starvation after the second or third season the Pilgrims were establishing their colony. They had burned through all the provisions they had carried with them and the communal (communist) method of raising crops had failed to the extent of starvation. Several Pilgrims had already died of starvation before the local Indian Chief was coerced into giving aid to the Pilgrims by some of the tribe that knew of the Pilgrims plight.

But the aid the Indians provided wasn't in the form of a bailout. They provided immediate aid to stave off the starvation but the Indians brought knowledge of local plants and animals, how to plant corn and other indigenous crops, how to hunt the wildlife. At the same time the leaders of the Pilgrims came to realize that if each family had their own plots of land to plant on there would be a stronger drive to produce for their own family. (capitalism) An introduction to a true new way of life is what saved the Pilgrims.

The Pilgrims and their immediate descendants lived in harmony with the local tribes. It wasn't until later in history that the white man started to push west and south that the Indian subjugation started to take place.

So if you want to be historically correct, be Thankful for the turkey and corn. And be upset with the Italians and Spanish. The Indian down fall began when Christopher Columbus returned to Spain with the directions to the New World.
