Tight Ammo Supply

Strangest thing....Cabelas has been out of every single hand gun round for 6 weeks, except 40 caliber Speer Gold Dot. Which it has never run out of. That is so strange.
......and the Speer Gold Dot went away today as well.

bass pro has tons of ammo

Bass Pro in Auburn NY has fully restocked with most handgun calibers of UMC and WWB ammo. I picked up 3 UMC 9mm bulk packs, $55 per box of 250.

Fully restocked huh? Let us know how long that lasts. Might have to take a road trip to NY.

Went to 2 Walmarts this weekend.
Rifle ammo starting to fill the shelves.
Pistol ammo was still light but they both had some (love that 6 box limit).
There were no 380 acp, 9mm, 357 mag, 38 spcl, or 45 acp.
There were 40 S&W, 44 mag, 44 spcl and 32.

BTW - the bulk ammo 22 LR was also in stock, 500 rnd HP Winchester.
The Federals went to match grade down to 350 rnd but same price.

Twin Cities, MN ... I haven't seen WWB or UMC in Wally World, Gander Mountain, Dicks, Fleet Farm (insert five other stores) in about four months. I can find premium defensive ammo at the LGS but of course I'm not going to be putting 100 rounds of $30.00 / 25 rounds downrange. I need cheap practice ammo.

Obama gets into office, and the next thing I know I can't buy ammo.

In AZ, ammo is more valuable than GOLD. You can't even get reloading supplies! My buddy calls around trying to find primers and gun powder... the prices are almost 2x that what it was in 2008!

this weekend i lucked out and found a few boxes of 40 cal blazer plinking ammo for 13 bux a box at wally world, would of grabbed them all but they had a 2 box limit per caliber, so i just got a couple, went back later and the last ones were gone, lol.

been visiting 4 wally world's daily for 8 weeks plus...

picked up 2 boxes of .45 acp a few weeks ago and that's it...

no common pistol, rilfe, or buck shot ammo...

who would have thought lead would be worth more then gold?

I bought 10 boxes of 40 cal Blazer Brass a couple weeks ago at Wally World. It was $13 here too.

.40 has not been common pistol or rifle ammo in over a decade...

that's why it is the most available...

guess i should buy a .40 so I have ammo for something...

many law enforcement, Park Rangers, etc. use .40 S&W. I think its available because they make more if it than some other calibers.

Yeah. You keep telling me that.

I am just razzing ya... the .40 can make somebody just as dead as a .22 can...
I myself believe shot placement counts most...

And I consider you to be the lucky one, that you can find ammo, i have over 60 firearms and not a .40 in the bunch and can't find a bullet, loaded or otherwise...
:-(

OH, and my carry's are:
Primary Carry - Para P14-45 (.45 ACP) Double Stack that I alternate with a SW1911 .45 ACP Single Stack
Secondary Backup Glock G36 Slimline .45 ACP
Tertiary Backup Sig P232 SL .380 ACP

I recommend Corbon Power Balls or Corbon DPX for any caliber for defense...

must suck to be you because I can find any caliber you might need at great prices, tell me what you want I can buy if for you and send it UPS. The only thing I cant buy is primers still:angry:

I went into my local gun shop yesterday to pick up the Kahr CW45 I had on layaway. I had just enough cash to do that, but when I walked in the door, I saw a strange and beautiful sight...bulk 9mm range ammo. :man_in_love: Yeah, I know...Crazy!

This place always has a good selection of self defense rounds, but for the longest time, has had no or very little 9mm range ammo.

I pondered my glorious predicament for a few minutes and settled on splitting the funds - putting 2 Benjamins on the Kahr and picking up four 100-round bags of 9mm ($27 each) for my Sig and my wife's FNH. Awesome!!!

They even had 50 round boxes of 9mm Blazer and other brands back in stock on the shelves.

No .45 ACP range rounds, but I'm good on those for now.

Those stats about calibers have to be wrong because we all know that a .22 and especially a .25 cannot possibly be fatal. Even the .380 is questionable. And a Lorcin or Raven even being able to fire a shot without falling apart, give me a break. :sarcastic:

Well, like everyone says, "A well placed shot with a ..."

But then, when I return fire with something that sounds like a cannon, even a not-so-well placed shot should at least make the BG soil his britches.

I've bought thousands of rounds of 380 this year too. 380 is the rarest one out there right now but I just looked hard and in the right places. I posted here many times how folks could get both when I found it.
