Threatening and cell phone.

He didn't say he would do this. He stated the officer said, "if you tell someone you are armed and show them your handgun, and then go about your business, they can call the police and you will get in trouble." The officer stated he should not brandish, and should always have a means of communication, and if anything bad were to happen, that we should be the first to call 911.

No where in the OP did he state he did, or will, brandish a firearm.

At least that is the way I read it...others are probably right that he is a troll...I'd be amazed if he posted again...

Okay let me rephrase my point.

The deputy who told the OP to do this is an idiot.

I think the if some thugs were blocking the sidewalk and I felt they were trying to do so to intentionally intimidate me. I would cross the street and use the other sidewalk, or the next street over. No point in trying to walk past (much closer to) the thugs. If they follow you, they are escalating the situation.

This is going to be a stupid question ... But Can someone kindly explain what "trolling" is ? I'm not familiar with this term

See tell tale signs below:

1> A very small number of posts, generally under 10
2> A completely controversial question (Such as what if I shoot someone in the head for squirting water on me, but they may have had a knife too, or a question equally as dumb)
3> Generally they use the incorrect terms for items as well.

The troll asks questions to which they know will incite arguments or generally rile up a forum....

If your firearm is concealed, the only time it should become "unconcealed" on the street is if there is eminent need to shoot it. Displaying a firearm or even suggesting you'll use a firearm to gain leverage is a crime in many states.

In the event that you ever draw your firearm in defense, be sure to promptly call 911 to report the incident (if you haven't already done so). Use of a firearm in self defense should be the ultimate LAST resort. Anything else is just asking for trouble. (if not criminal, then civil).

Wow, the OP admitted he was new to CC and that this was his first post. Right away the know-it-alls start calling him a troll. I guess if you're trying to keep the forum to the name callers you're well on your way... When will you people grow up

First of all you need to be able to discern between threats real and imagined. Secondly the only time your gun should come out of your holster is when you fear for your life and you know that a deadly threat is imminent. The precence of a gun can either difuse the situation or do nothing at all which would mean that the agressor is intent on hurting you no matter what. The last damn thing you want to do is flash your gun to try to scare somebody while you're walking down the street. You're given a little more leeway when you're inside your home.
