This will bring the anti gun crowd out!

Seems to me it should be just more evidence that more people, if qualified, should be allowed to carry. Just when you think it could not get any worse.....
Like I said three days ago on my other post "what should I do now" and I will paste it here.
If I was president, I would recommend every household have a firearm and a safe, if they couldn't afford it, then give a sum of money to help the citizens pay for their firearm. Where would I come up with the money?? I would eliminate half of the police department.
Law-abiding citizens of course.

I just watched a few minutes of MSNBC.
They went though what they have learned about the shooter.
Past Police Record - no (shoot)
No ties to extremists. (Darn it)
Only a traffic ticket. (maybe something we can use later)
Parents from San Diego. (Lets just gloss over that)
No past military. (They seem bummed out about it.)

What group can we start blaming to further our mission?????

Other boards are already calling the shooter a tea bagger and NRA member.

Being an Army veteran of OIF, I'm really getting tired of the media trying to paint us as "ticking time bombs" waiting to go off like this. The fact that they "seem bummed" about his lack of military background illustrates my point.

The sad thing is this will not be the last. It will just be a few days or weeks until we have another mass shooting. They're like an earthquake you have one big one and a few more aftershocks.

The anti gun bunch uses anything they can and unfortunately logic falls on deaf ears with those folks. This is definitely something they are going to get high mileage from and all that can be done is refute their dribble with facts and hope our legislators have enough common sense to see through the BS.

Then do what I did and make sure that the people from whom your legislators are hearing are the RIGHT people! Contact your legislators before the antis do! You fight BAD information with GOOD information. The foundational rule in any debate is that the side that frames the issue wins the debate. It's up to us to insure that the issue is framed properly. We should be absolutely burning up the phone lines and filling up the email boxes of our legislators at all levels.

Then maybe he already has what he wants - fame and notoriety. And the more the media makes him the center of attention, the more they feed his ego. They need to remove his name from the news and bury him in the deepest hole they can find so that he can't feed off the attention.

He is following a classic terrorist MO - he struck at his primary target; his traps are intended for first responders and LEOs who will be searching his apartment. He figured that they would just break down the door and go barging in, giving him an even higher body count; he was probably hoping that LEOs wouldn't evacuate the apartment building first, which REALLY would have jacked up his body count. I'm guessing they might just charge him under the so-called patriot act as a domestic terrorist for this one. He may find himself in that lovely resort destination, Gitmo.

From a tactical analysis-

Attempting to take down a gunman (or two in this case) in a dark and crowded theater, with inclines/steps/steep ramps where people are running and screaming probably isn't the wisest course of action. You are better to hunker down and wait for a good opportunity to take a very close and well aimed shot when some innocent person's head isn't going to jump in the way.
An even better course of action is to use the commotion to get you and yours out a side door while you cover them.

This is very spot on! I was thinking the same thing. I would think my reaction would be to law low and keep my weapon holstered until a). I had an unmistakeably clear shot b). was in the sight picture of the shooter and was forced to fire. This situation is unique from others such as VA Tech or Columbine in that it was a dark, confined space with a high concentration of people. In addition to that, he was wearing body armor which would have limited the impact of a round.

I am not a cop and my weapon is primarily for the defense of my loved ones and myself. I find it unlikely I would have taken the risk to fire in this situation without feeling certain that I could effectively stop it without harming an innocent person.

Something tells me metal detectors and pat downs are coming to theaters near you. Sadly, this could get messy with the added factor of profiling. We all do it, but some are worse off than others.

This fool's actions will bring the anti-gun crown out of the wood work's.

14 dead, at least 50 injured in shooting at Colorado movie theater, police say | Fox News

Listened to our local progressive talk radio this morning, as I often do. The immediate reaction of the far left was to blame the Tea Party movement. They also blamed Rush Limbaugh as an instigator? The typical person calling in saw the shooter as a radical gun ideologue. It was a liberal feeding frenzy which the hosts, to their credit, tried to control.

We are now hearing that the shooter was a very intelligent medical student with no past criminal history. He has no CCW license or even a hunting license. Still waiting to hear about a motive or how he obtained the weapons in his possession.

The older I get, the harder this type of tragic event is on me. My thoughts and prayers are with those affected by this senseless act.

I agree, yet, I doubt that he'll be sent to Gitmo. He's not Muslim and unfortunately, that's a common denominator.

First, there is absolutely no excuse for this mass murder. I am sure this goes without saying.
So:
Just what the President wanted, he could not have asked for a better starting platform for an additional attack on American freedom. This hand in hand with the UN arms treaty is all falling in line. I would not be surprised if the next step would be Obama’s taking action on his own to protect us by limiting our possession of these deadly tools of destruction. Once he has his ideas going and declares martial law he may very well invite the UN to assist him in the enforcement of the treaty and to stop the killing. Never mind the fact the UN is unable to stop the killing in Syria, and how about this one? The number of condoned killings by health care professionals to generations of Americans by abortion. Obama’s mantra of the right thing to do in his mind supersedes the law and scope of his power. Once he has justified any action he considers the right thing to do he will act. I sincerely fear his requesting assistance from a foreign government or power. He already has millions at his beckoning call, the ILEGALs from Mexico and who knows how many trained terrorist from around the globe.
This could be his Gulf of Tonkin, Hitler’s excuse to invade Poland just to name a few.
The Right Thing to do may be his reaction to kick off his version power grab.
In closing: I have addressed the immediate issue, inserted my feelings on abortion, the arms treaty, Hillary, illegals and inserted Hitler into this.

Gitmo?

That place was shut down the first year Obama was in office
