This will bring the anti gun crowd out!

I stopped going to the theatre after 4 cars were broken into one night, which mine was one.
This incident costed me more trouble than it was worth. Because I had to replace my windshield.
The cop said he thought they were looking for a gps, but now I believe they could have been
looking for a firearm.

I just watched a few minutes of MSNBC.
They went though what they have learned about the shooter.
Past Police Record - no (shoot)
No ties to extremists. (Darn it)
Only a traffic ticket. (maybe something we can use later)
Parents from San Diego. (Lets just gloss over that)
No past military. (They seem bummed out about it.)

What group can we start blaming to further our mission?????

Other boards are already calling the shooter a tea bagger and NRA member.

The anti gun bunch uses anything they can and unfortunately logic falls on deaf ears with those folks. This is definitely something they are going to get high mileage from and all that can be done is refute their dribble with facts and hope our legislators have enough common sense to see through the BS.

I'm sure that the antis will be jumping on this. But to quote from the May 13, 2000, Cato Institute report, Gun Control: Myths and Realities:

"3. The tragedy at Columbine High School a year ago illustrates the deficiencies of current gun control laws.

False. Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold violated close to 20 firearms laws in amassing their cache of weapons (not to mention the law against murder), so it seems rather dubious to argue that additional laws might have prevented this tragedy..."

It can be safely stated that Holmes violated at least as many laws as did the Columbine shooters, so packing on more laws isn't likely to deter anyone. It should also be noted that the fact that no one returned fire illustrates what we have been saying for years - CPL holders obey the laws and no-carry postings. Only one person was packing last night - the bad guy.

"Laws that forbid THE CARRYING OF ARMS... disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes... Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants; they serve rather to encourage than to prevent homicides, FOR AN UNARMED MAN MAY BE ATTACKED WITH GREATER CONFIDENCE THAN AN ARMED MAN." -- Cesare Beccaria, "On Crimes and Punishment", 1764 (emphasis added)

Due to our theatre selling alcohol I have to leave my gun in the car and the idea this could happen randomly scares me.

In NC you can't carry into an establishment or an event if you have to pay an admission.

These states need to understand the absurdity of such a law. As nuts as NY is, we don't have any laws prohibiting carry in bars, restuarants, theaters, etc... thank God.

Yes, I agree. I don't like locking the gun in my car either.

I wish they would not give this nut any air time, especially his name and why. I don't care why. His story should not be told.

Yes, absolutely. One thing that puzzles me is when the pundits keep asking "what made him do this. Was it the guns, the violent video games, etc?"

WHAT HAPPENED TO "NUTS!"

It is against Cinemark Cinema policy to carry on premise, including the "No Weapons Allowed" signs. The shooter knew he'd be unopposed.

Sad day. Lethal injection is too good for this degenerate.

I agree. Tactically, this was an awful place to have to engage a perp. But if there were a few legal CCW holders, at least SOMEONE would have been trying to get in position to stop him.

Very sad.........and my wife wants to know why I carry 24/7 very simple really I WON'T BE A VICTIM or allow my family to be one.

Nc really needs to change thier policy. It is surprising to me.to find that many sheep in one place with out a wolf. I know when stuff happens flee or fight is what we do. But for everyone to flee baffles me.

After reading about this I tried to find out if they have a no weapons policy at the theater I already purchased tickets for online. All I could find was a post on this forum and one other that referred to people not attending because they had noticed a small no weapons sign on the doors. I just got done emailing the theater to ask if they do have a no weapon policy, and how I can get a refund if that is the case. Mostly I wanted them to know I'll gladly follow the rules and that means I will not patronize anywhere that willfully inhibits my ability to protect myself and my family.

I'm sure the anti-gun crowd will find a way to spin this, but it's ridiculous to think that this could not have been less severe if lawful firearm owners had been present to come to the defense of the crowd. I understand the guy was wearing body armor, but trying to stop him certainly could not have made it any worse.

I am in no way defending the shooter!
The crap has already started to fly.
Something that perhaps wont be talked about much.
The Shooter has imitated a 1986 Batman comic
and there was a movie trailer for an upcoming Shaw Penn Movie showing a mass shooting in a movie theater.

Life imitating so called "art"

Art my arse. Money money money period.

Some of the people in the show thought the shooting was part of the show.
ps. I don't go to see Shawn Penn Movies.

Excellent post!
I could not agree with you more!

I am 100% certain that if at least a couple of the movie patrons were legally armed with concealed hanguns, that this psychotic nutjob could have been stopped much sooner and far less innocent people would have been injured and killed.

Just my .02 cents.
