Disabled vet with CPL addresses city council, indicates that he carries concealed. Council member attempts to pass an illegal motion. Watch the Mayor's response:

Grand Rapids Mayor George Heartwell could learn some things from this mayor!

I was born at Whidbey NAS, just outside of OakHarbor. Mayor Scott Dudley has it right. I think Im going to look him up next time Im in town.

Hoplophobia? Nahhhhh..........LOL

Honestly, I really do not think it was hoplophobia. To me, it looked like disdain and arrogance ending in political grandstanding. Kudos to the mayor for taking a stand. I'm sorry, but the councilman that walked out was just a whiney assed douche bag.

Funny how there went from about 15 citizens watching the meeting to only 5 after the motion failed.

The youtube video was highly edited. You need to watch the full series of videos on the Oak Harbor city website to see the whole timeline over the course of about 2 hours.

Can you summarize what occurred in the rest of the meeting?

The mayor's comments were at the end of the meeting. In between Almberg walking out and the mayor's comments was a couple hours of routine business and people got bored and filtered out or left after their particular topic was decided.

In the meeting before this one, on January 2nd, two guys open carried in the city council meeting and spoke against the illegal continuation of the ban in city parks. One person in the audience was so afraid of the guns that he forgot what he was going to say about the issue of the septic to sewer subject. Of course he hung around in the meeting for at least an hour in the same room as the two guys with the guns until he had the opportunity to tell everyone how scared he was before he left. Seems like someone so afraid for their lives would just leave and call 911 or go to the police station which is across the street from city hall. I guess they didn't figure 911 or the police station would do anything, since the Chief of Police is also present in these meetings, carrying his own handgun concealed.
