This is Rediculous

Went to my local gun store yesterday to check things out and all I can say is holy crap!

Just a few months ago if you walked into this store you would find 15 to 20 ARs, and between 3 and 5 of every popular handgun model.

When I stopped by the store yesterday, not one semi-auto gun. No ARs, no semi-auto handguns, and no ammo. The only things there were hunting shotguns, a couple revolvers, and some bolt actions. No reloading gear either. And there was still more people waiting for background checks than I've ever seen.

It definitely wasn't this bad after the 2008 election. If you have guns and ammo, that stuff is like gold today.

Yes ridiculous, that's why I planned ahead

I did a 9mm conversion on my XDSC-40 and ordered 9mm magazines at Midway with a backorder date of 1/12/2013. I checked today and the backorder date had advanced to 1/25/2013. I hope the manufactures aren't waiting to see what BO is going to do as far as mag sizes.....

I also wanted to buy some new mags for my Glock and after a quick search online I only found some on backorder for $50. I usually buy them for $25

Things fluctuate here, the LGS's are putting stuff onthe shelf as soon as it arrives. So no ARs one day, a dozen the next. Went in after work the other day and found a pmag and a shelf full of AK mags. I found a shelf full of 40 at the walmat in evanston but no 9mm or 22. Just keep checking, writing letters, defeat this bullcrap legislation and let it all settle down. Just don't let up on the letters and calls.

Yes and for all butt heads and trolls that used to say things like "your tinfoil hat is on to tight" etc.
Who is laughing now.

But really, I have heard things in the past 2 weeks that I have never heard before.
Now let me ax a question.
If I were to suggest tactics and measures to lay siege to a city or facility, the government could lock me up of sedition or terrorism right? Yet we have a Governor and other politicians not to mention the talking head class of metro sexual doing nothing but bullying and threatening illegal actions against gun owners. (Pretty stupid if you ax me, or are they being dumb like a fox)
But, who has fired the first shot? Governor Cuomo of NY threatening to confiscate guns? Or guys talking about watering the tree of liberty.
I mean if I said any of this crap against gays or illegal immigrants I would be prosecuted by the same bleached sphincters that are causing all of this hysteria.

Hypocrisy and double standards.

I ordered 6 glock 17 magazines from sportsmans guide for a friend a few weeks ago and they arrived a few days ago. Just keep looking.

It has been absoulutly insane around here the last couple of weeks. Normally at my local LGS, in Orange county N.Y. that has an indoor 100 yrd range, the only days where you MAY have a short 10 minute wait for the range, are Sat. and Sunday at opening time during hunting season to sight in your rifle. You now have a 1-2 hour minimum wait on any day, all day, since all this began. The parking lot is full all the time now. You can't even get near the place. When they received 25 Windhams last Friday, they were gone within hours. They sold 5 over the phone in the 15 mins I was standing in line at the register to pay for my range time They stop after taking deposits on ARs when the list reaches 25. The same Windham I paid $849.00 for in mid November is now $1799.00 not including tax or anything else and they can't keep them in stock for more than an hour. The days of wine and roses are over my dear.

Target shooting at a range???? I wish I could do that! Ammo is so hard to find I have ruled out target shooting until things settle down in the coming months. Ammo is worth too much to shoot for fun right now.

Just got back from a gun show here. All the AR and AK type rifles are over double in price. Absolutely no 30 round magazines available. No .223/5.56 ammo available. No brass or projectiles either. 9mm ammo... NOPE. Glock extended magazines were selling for 80 to 100 bucks a pop (for now). Glad I bought mine (AR) last year. Unreal.

Go to your local stores. I went to a local farm & fleet store today (for the first time, I might add), and ended up buying them out of Remington UMC .45 ACP FMJ (6 x 100 rd boxes) for just under $35/box (including tax). This stuff is sold out and backordered online for $45-50/box, not to mention shipping costs. Just gotta keep looking.

FYI - Wal-Mart's website lets you sign up to be emailed when store stock is available. So you don't have to keep browsing, they'll send you a notification once it's scanned into the computer for inventory.

Right after the crap hit the fan I went out and bought extra mags for my AR, AK, and Glock 21SF. Hard to find these now and if you can the prices are through the roof.

A coup has already taken place..........you'll know when it's time to water that tree.

I was cruising Armslist the other day just out of curiosity. I don't really need anything, just wanted to see what AR 30 rounders were going for. Most were around $45 to $50, and some were as high as $75. Then, at the bottom of the search results page I see an add with the title, "DON'T PAY THESE GOUGING PRICES - GO HERE INSTEAD!" So I clicked on the link. It went to a site called "Link Removed" and they say that they're having no problem getting 30 round mags (for ARs only - no AK mags). Price is $18.70 each. Not cheap really, but not sky-high either. I went ahead and ordered a couple like three or four days ago, with the intent of not saying anything about them until I had a chance to check out their quality, but heck, they're importing them from Israel, they're steel with anti-tilt followers, I don't really see how they could be worse than some of the Tapcos and aluminum surplus mags I've seen going for over $40 bucks. They say they're 21 days behind in shipping, but it's not due to back orders, just to the volume of orders and them being a small shop. If anyone's low on AR mags, they can get as many as they want at that price (no limit that I saw), and have 'em in less than a month. Oh, shipping on two mags was USPS Priority for $6.30, making the total $44.00 even. Have at it.

I don't see how this makes any sense. Do you have any inside knowledge that manufacturers are purposely holding back production? In every case before, existing restricted hardware has been grandfathered in, and if these manufacturers are already tooled up for production, what are you saying? That they're letting their machines just sit idle on the off-chance that they won't be able to sell whatever they manufacture between now and the implementation of any new gun control legislation (or executive dictates, as the case may be)?

Everywhere you look for mags, uppers, lowers and ammo, retailers are simply sold out. The sudden increased demand has overwhelmed production capacities in all facets of gun-related merchandise. Just above I posted about a company that is having no problem keeping a supply coming in, but the demand is such that their shipping capacity is increased by 20-fold over their normal schedules. Why would production schedules not be similarly overwhelmed?

If you have some info supporting what you say, I'm certainly willing to consider it, but absent such information, I'm going with I think you're mistaken. If you need to put blame for the shortages on some group of people, look at gun-owners, or maybe new entrants into the gun-owning community. Panic buying is causing the shortages from what I can see. Manufacturers are just trying to keep up. They'll be able to once whatever bill or dictates are implemented, and gun-owners reluctantly give into whatever new controls they will have to live under, because it's damned obvious that none of the guns being bought at never-before-seen rates are intended to be used to participate in a constitutional militia or any other kind of resistance to the up-coming illegal controls. When the gun-owners, both new and old, go back to sleep and leave their rights to the NRA to "protect," then manufacturers will catch back up and all will "normal" again.

Yep, I'm a cynic. But you have to admit if you're paying attention, that I'm also right.

That company isn't the only distributor being hit with shipping problems. One of our major suppliers can't ship fast enough so has a 7 day backlog on orders just to go out. With the items in stock.
