This was an email I got from an Oak Harbor City Council Member:

[FONT=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]John I don't know how many were at our meeting tonight but it was about 40 to 1 Pro gun. A bunch talked in Citizen comment and by my count it was 12 pro gun 1 anti. Not everyone spoke during that period because they were waiting for the agenda item on the ordinance to come. When it did come up Bob Severns made 3 motions 1, suspend the rules
2. Declare an emergency session because we were about to be sued
3. Approve the ordinance to make it legal

The ordinance should have been approved in mid November.

One citizen during his comments demanded that Almberg and Servatias resign. After the citizens got thru I made a request that Almberg speak to the subject of him resigning. He gave a fair response. Servatias on the other hand did not speak to the question. He read a document that described how the Mayor ran the meeting. I asked again and got ignored by Servatias

We di have several TV trucks on hand.

BTW.... we cannot cater to the anti-gun crowd to make them feel comfortable. We must show up, and we must show up IN FORCE!

Good to see a Garand made it into attendance... though a shame there weren't more of those 'evil' black rifles showing their faces in public, they should get as much public presence and acceptance as we can give them.

I just watched all three videos and have seen the video from the previous meeting. It's an excellent example of what and involved community can do; especially when backed up by credible threats of righteous legal action. Well done!

I watched almost all of the videos late last night, but must have missed the part that Link Removed excerpted where the Mayor (I think) announces that the threatened suit was from the Second Amendment Foundation (SFA). Certainly the good citizens (including NavyLCDR) of Oak Harbor deserve kudos for getting heavily involved, but that report was the first time that I saw or heard that SFA was the legal threat they were facing. It's important to give the .orgs that support us kudos too. Many will just assume that the suit came from better-known .orgs if it isn't acknowledged who was really the active legal threat to the Council.

So big kudos to the SFA too!

This is how it's done folks. You have to get involved. If you don't, your side of the issue will not be heard. Don't let the statists define the argument for you. Nicely done by the good citizens of Oak Harbor. Good on the Second Amendment Foundation for assisting the council (certain members anyway) to see more clearly...

Yup, it's even done this exact way at the State level... though most of the time you're going to be in Committee or Sub-Committee meetings doing the public comment.

Here's some good news. MY Congressman Marlin Stutzman, U.S. House District 3, has introduced a concealed carry reciprocity bill. Go here for details: Link Removed After you read it. Get ahold of YOUR congressman and tell him/her to get on board.
