Lately, I've been getting a lot of request from new students who want to try several different calibers and actions before choosing their first handgun. I've put together a pretty respectable selection for exactly this purpose. But now, it's becoming a real chore to clean them all every week with all the heavy use.
I'm thinking about purchasing an ultrasonic cleaner, and I want opinions from those who actually own and use them. All I really have heard so far is that they tend to pull the oil out of the metal, so the guns need a good oiling afterwards. I'm wondering things like:
- Which brand and model do you recommend, and why? Looking for comments on both the quality of the product, and on the customer service of the manufacturer (if you ever needed it).
- Are there any materials such as wood parts, polymer frames or rubber grips that are adversely affected by the solution or cleaning process?
Thanks everyone!
