I have read good reviews on this so far, but maybe someone knows something i can find about this.

I am looking for something that can store a handgun and 4 magazines of ammo and maybe some more boxes, but also have fast access to keep away from the kids. I think this might be it.

Yeah, I bought a biometric safe for my daughter, for her Ruger SP101. A good thing, it keeps anything inside it away from those who shouldn't access it. You have to be a little precise with your finger placement on the sensor, and swipe it slowly, but it is a major improvement from having to fumble with a key. Overall I think I make a good purchase and am satisfied with the quality and security it offers her. Just my 2c worth.

No, not that specific model. I don't think you'll be too far off center if you get one. I've been pleased with the performance.

My friend works in I.T. he claims fingerprint readers are not that secure. I saw an episode of myth busters when they tried to beat the finger print reader. Even a photo copy of your finger will open the safe!!!!They also lifted a finger print off a glass with a piece of tape, and placed it on the reader....bingo it opened!!!

I own a touchpad safe with a key override in the event the batteries die. I did see that episode on mythbusters which made me question the biometric safes.

By the time a kid is that astute, he/she'll be old enough for the beatdown that would ensue. Of course, by that time, they'd be properly trained and well heeled, and will most likely have their own piece by the bed. Hey, good backup is hard to come by!

I liked that episode of mythbusters. I bought 2 of the touchpad safes. One for the house and one for the truck.
Had one of those fingerprint readers on a laptop. Always had problems with it.

I own the Link Removed (like this one) and have not had any problems with it. For under $200, I think it's a great little unit. If you want an extremely secure vault, be prepared to pay thousands of dollars, but if you want a reliable unit that is affordable, check it out.

Lol you just bumped my 2 month old post.

But anyway i went with the Honeywell 2087D after reading too many good reviews on it and finding out it retails for $300 while i found it for sale at my local meijer for $130

I don't think i could have beat it for that price. Its waterproof, fireproof, and big, not to mention heavy as heck.
