They want the guns, and the ammo too

Earlier this year, Link Removed supporters won a temporary victory in the gun control war. Several bills were defeated in the Senate; most notably another so-called assault weapons ban and universal background checks. However, the gun control crowd has not given up. They will be back with more of the same legislation to infringe on the 2nd Amendment. In the meantime, they have taken a separate path that ultimately leads to the same outcome, a disarmed American citizenry, by going after our Link Removed.

The war on ammunition
Ask any gun owner about the war on ammunition and you will get an earful. Ammo has become a scarce commodity in some locales. It flies off the shelves of gun shops and sporting goods stores, often within hours of delivery. At gun shows it is usually overpriced, sometimes selling for double its value, if not more. While demand for ammunition has certainly increased lately, that does not fully account for the scarcity. Instead, the lack of ample ammo is by design and due to multiple reasons, and ammo will become even more difficult to obtain if the anti-gunners get their way.
DHS bulk ammo buys
In a story that broke last year by Infowars.com, and has since then been continuously updated and verified by numerous other sources, it was revealed that the Department of Homeland Security has placed orders for nearly 2 billion rounds of ammunition. The orders, which can be found on fedbizopps.gov, are spaced out over the next five years and are for hundreds of millions upon millions of .40, 9mm and .223 rounds, along with a wide variety of other calibers. These massive orders by DHS have served to keep manufacturers busy working at max capacity, laying claim to all their production and leaving little, if any, for the general public. In fact, subsequent DHS surveys of manufacturers production capacity levels have led to even more orders, effectively snatching up anything that comes available. On a good note, there is currently legislation in Congress that would limit DHS ammo purchases in the future.

The anti-gun special interests can attack the ammo supply without treading on the US Constitution. Without ammo a gun isn't much more than a paper weight. Liberal special interests have been attacking supply and demand to get what they want for years. Look what they have done to our fuel supplies. Don't allow refinery expansion. Limit the use of new technologies unless it fits the liberal agenda. The list goes on.

That's why one should have a nice sharp Samurai sword or other similar type weapon as backup. Also, training in a martial art would be a good idea...they cannot disarm your knowledge.

I really think it is mostly due to people like the asshat in Vegas who was bragging about having stockpiled over a 100,000 rounds in the last month. He was trying to barter 45 for 9mm at the Walmart gun counter while waiting in line to buy 3 boxes more. That 100K doesnt count 80K rounds of 22 he has also stock piled and he doesn't even own a 22. The best thing for these turds is for the prices to fall back to pre-December prices. then they can lose their asses.

If it can be proved about the ammo supply being basically hijacked, I believe it would be an infringement on the 2th Amendment. After all, like you said, it would be a paperweight. The two are intricately jointed. One is no good without the other.
One without the other is worthless for protection. If they're restricting ammo they are infringing our right to bare arms. Period!

I agree with you, but somehow I don't think this administration will. I know it's just a case of splitting hairs, but I'm sure if they can't achieve their goal one way, they'll stoop to whatever they deem necessary.

They can have my guns and ammo...

The problem is they won't get them in that order...

I don't have the time, patience, or discipline to learn martial arts, but I can swing a crowbar with the best of them. Especially if my life depends on it.

I stopped in at the local Wally World today. As usual, all they had was a few 30-30, .270 Win, and some 12 and 20 gauge shotgun shells. No ammo for any handguns at all. Only thing I wanted was some .40 S&W. Guess I'll just have to carry a .45 while I'm here as there is over 300 rounds for them on hand.

My LGS had a CRAP LOAD of .40 caliber! I never have an issue with the .40 cal supply.
They also had several cases of 9mm ball ammo with no purchase limits!
I was bummed as I have no money to capitalize on this turn of events.
My LGS contact says that ammo is coming in on a regular basis.

All of our LGS have an ample supply of ammo (all calibers) , only Wally World has empty shelves.

I went around my LGS yesterday just to check prices and such... I was surprised to see that there were few shortages. I understood why though, they were still charging the highest price possible. I saw 9mm for $40 per box.... get real, you've got a shelf full of it! So, people are going to Wally World instead. However, I did find two boxes of Privi .303 150gr SP at $19.99 per box... needless to say, I picked 'em both up! The other .303 was $40-$50 still. The supply is coming back, just slowly. Hopefully, it trickles in again and I can get some more bulk deals.

Our store's ammo supplies are getting better again lots of 223 and pistol rounds except 40 cal, wouldn't you know it. Had 40 cal for a while, now it's short again.

FWIW, CTD has stock again at prices not "too" bad... compared to where they were months ago.

Check it out: Cheaper Than Dirt - America's Ultimate Shooting Sports Discounter

Cheaper Than Dirt can kiss my azz! They screwed the public at the first whiff of a shortage on ammo, (don't forget the P-mags too!).
I'm all for capitalism but these guys screwed the pooch beyond respect.
They wouldn't get my money now without giving me a bj first!
