Around 350,000 students (kindergarten-high school) will not be attending school in Chicago due to the teachers strike which is forcing many thousands of parents to figure out alternative supervision for their kids.

I'm sure Teachers making more money, getting more time off, better health care etc, etc would be far better Teachers; therefore being better for the Children. Sure, that makes sense to me...

One of the final sticking points involves grading teachers based on student test scores. Teachers should not be graded on how much the taught learn, right. I mean, after all, it is the students fault if they don't learn. It surely cannot be the teachers fault that they cannot teach. I mean all those days off for in service training don't count for anything.

So yeah, lets blame the students, not the teachers.

Yes, there are many good teachers out there, but let's be honest, not all of the teachers are good.

One of the problems is that many of the teachers are really not in it for the kids but for the 'job security' and the 'excellent benefits' that the majority of us 'joe citizens' could never get within the private sector while all of us taxpayers are 'forced to fund' those same benefits and salaries.

And the biggest problem is that the corrupted teachers unions are also not in it for the kids, but for the billions of taxpayers $$$'s.

Chicago the progressive liberal socialist paradise. How could this happen with a socialist mayor and home of our socialist president. Of course it's for the children. Better paid teachers "for the children". Better health care for teachers "for the children". Teacher tenure "for the children". Teacher pensions "for the children". These kind of tactics have worked for progressive liberal socialists for years. This from the union. The unions that support every progressive liberal socialist democrat policy and/or candidate without question. The union that slams capitalism, volunteerism, individualism, individual wealth... all of which the unions could not survive without.
