Do you have small hands? Do you have trouble finding a gun that fits?
.
As a man with incredibly small hands, finding a properly fitting gun proves to be fairly elusive. Either my hand doesn't fit, or I can't work the controls very well, so in my quest to find a better fitting gun, I've created a chart of Trigger Reach measurements for many common handguns.
.
Why trigger reach? Well if you have average or large hands, you may never know the agony of trying to shoot a gun that's simply too big for your fingers to shoot. Even some of the famed 'pocket nines' simply have triggers that are too far away for my fingers to adequately reach. For example, when I grip a Glock 19, I have to rotate my hands so far around the grip to get my finger on the trigger properly, that it makes it impossible for me to reach the mag or slide release levers, not to mention that this creates a borderline dangerous grip. I hope this chart proves helpful to other 'small handed' individuals. There's also a corresponding blog entry which also shows the chart, but has a little more explanation around the topic. Any additional entries to the data would be appreciated and I will continue to update it as time goes by.
