Since Chicago began issuing CPLs, robbery is down 20%, burglary and vehicle thefts are down 20% and 26% each, and homicide is at a 56 YEAR LOW as of the end of the first quarter. Police are trying to make it out that confiscating more guns has led to the drop in crime, but that has been their strategy all along.

So what changed?

CITIZENS BEGAN CARRYING!

Tw police chiefs. The one from Chicago says he will treat legal carriers like criminals, shooting them on sight. Until he is finally forced to let citizens carry, he continues to confiscate guns but still sees the city's crime rates skyrocket. The one from Detroit encourages the citizens of his city to carry and watches the crime rate in his city plummet.

Which one appears to know what he is talking about?

I read about this also. But the C(r)ook Country morons will NEVER credit CPLs for the stats going down. I know that it would be very hard to prove that it is people legally carrying is causing the crime stats to go down. But in every state that has CC crime has gone down so it MUST be a factor!!

To me, the proof is quite simple. You look at what they have been doing all along - with no success. You then look at what factor has changed. In this case, they have been confiscating and banning guns for years, yet the incidence of homicide has continued to spiral out of control. What changed? They finally allowed citizens to carry. The effect was IMMEDIATE - just as it was in Detroit.

These two cities have the potential to be our best proofs of the effectiveness of carry.

The Chicago police chief will change his tune when he is slapped with a court judgement against him and the city. They have already paid nearly $2 million in court costs to the NRA so their record isn't all that great.
