Thank you Ringo for sharing this. It was something that I needed to read on this day and this hour.

Well, that’s my tuppence worth (as we say in the UK). If I’m left behind I will be the first to apologise. Blessings to all in Christ.

The "rapture:" myth means myth.

Do you preach tolerance? By "tolerance" I do not mean the dictionary definition. I mean the convoluted liberal definition of agreement with those who have common beliefs and the mocking those who do not share your beliefs. I don't claim to know EVERYTHING about the Universe but you do, apparently. So please tell me (and prove beyond a reasonable doubt) what happens when we die? Do you REALLY know, for a fact, that it's a myth? I'm on the fence and I don't even interpret the Bible in a literal sense the way many do, but I don't mock those who do because I have respect.

I don't interpret the Bible in a literal sense either. I look at it more as a history book and a owners manual for life. I know there are many others that do interpret the Bible literally and that's fine. Who am I to say either is wrong. I do believe, based on faith, there is more to life then the material life we live here. Looking forward to the spiritual life that awaits us all. Don't know what exactly that will be like. The human brain doesn't have anything to relate to to understand. I look forward to the adventure. I do know the material things we hold near and dear in this life don't transfer. Again based on faith.

I, too, look at the Bible as more of a "code of conduct" than I do a historical document, although it does contain a mixture of both history and passages that inspire, teach, etc. I don't believe that a merciful God (as portrayed in the Bible) would eternally damn a truly good person solely for not attending church, so I cannot stand it when I see people with bumper stickers that say "Worship Jesus or Go to Hell" (I've literally seen that, verbatim). I guess I'd be labeled as "spiritual" but I hate labels like that. The human brain does not have the raw "computing power" required to understand the workings of the universe and why would it if we weren't meant to understand everything. Based on my rudimentary understanding of physics, I don't believe for one second that we're one big accident. Put all of it together and the conditions are literally PERFECT. I cannot believe that we're born, we die, then after time we just turn into dust. Gotta believe death is only the beginning and I'm looking forward to what awaits me but in absolutely no hurry to find out.

I'm just so sick of this moral decay in this country. All of the stuff that was frowned upon and made one a pariah even 30 years ago is now celebrated as in gay pride parades, proudly having children out of wedlock, and supporting or opposing of things that no one gave a second though to even back when I was growing up in the 80s i.e. firearm ownership, supporting traditional marriage, not having children out of wedlock, now make one a social pariah in some areas of the country. While I couldn't really care less about two gay people, parading down a major thoroughfare acting like the stereotype does not get them any brownie points, nor do I believe that they should be allowed to get married in the traditional sense. I really don't wanna go off on that tangent though. Every day I open my local paper, 5:1 ratio of unmarried couples having a child to married couples...and there's a "women's pregnancy center" across the street from the high school. Moral decay preceded the downfall of the Roman Empire. It's logical that if a society has no morals, complete anarchy will ensue because everyone will do whatever they want, when they want, how they want. The Seven Deadly Sins. Lust...well, look around, everyone's cheating on their wives and husbands. Wrath...look at all of this hatred in the world today. Greed...I know people who would do anything for material gain including, but not limited to throwing their best friend of 30 years under the bus. Vanity...well, just go to a mall. Sloth and Gluttony...one name, Michael Moore. Envy...class warfare that has resulted in all of the hate toward the wealthy simply because of their success and "spread the wealth around" socialism. Pride...Barack Obama, Dianne Feinstein, Nancy Pelosi.
