The Police State and Gestapo Mentallity

No disrespect to police but some are just overstepping there bounds and are being used by the power elite to do their dirty work or to instigate a situation.

Police shouldn't be hated, but they shouldn't be worshiped,
either. It's been said that police are to the state as
"the edge is to the knife" - and that's where the trouble
lies, especially when we're living under the reign of a
government that recognizes no limits on its power to
control, regiment, and punish people who have done no harm
to anyone.

Historically, most men who chose to become police or
sheriffs did so out of commendable motives, often because
they wanted to protect innocent people from lawless bullies.

How is it, then, that an increasing percentage of police
have become lawless bullies? Does this reflect an
institutional change in law enforcement? Is it a reflection
of a de-generate collectivist culture? Or could this be
simply the natural, albeit tragic, outgrowth of an innately
misguided view of how peace officers should function?

There's no serious dispute that the local police have become
militarized and federalized, and that this is precisely what
the Framers of the Constitution sought to prevent. It's
impossible to be a free republic at home while maintaining
an empire abroad: A society organized for imperial power
projection internationally will inevitably become a police
state domestically. In our case, this process has been
accelerated by the 41-year-long war the federal government
has fought against the American people in the name of drug
prohibition.

All of these developments, interestingly, are tied into the
U.S. government's involvement in the United Nations. The
UN's Drug War, and the effort to build an international
military "Peace Force," began in 1961. The plan was to
devote national military assets -- including our own - to
carrying out UN-authorized missions overseas, while
consolidating domestic police agencies into a militarized,
centrally controlled "Internal Security" force. This was all
outlined in the properly notorious State Department Document
7277, "Freedom From War."

That program has been the official policy template for both
foreign policy and internal security for two generations.
So it's entirely appropriate that this week's news stories
include new developments in Washington's involvement in
UN-facilitated foreign wars, and some genuinely outrageous
examples of the now-routine abuses committed by the imperial
"internal security" force here at home.

*Police lie. In fact, they are actually trained to lie. This
is an unpleasant fact, but we can't afford to ignore it. In
Seattle, efforts by the media and defense attorneys to obtain
evidence of police misconduct can actually result in
lawsuits - against those who file the public record requests!

Sadly, America is devolving into a police state, a result of the ever growing "security-industrial complex". 9/11 allowed the federal government to gain more and more power over all federal, state, and local police forces with power of the purse and basic federal hegemony. Tyranny begins with mandates but needs an enforcement arm and virtually all police forces in this country are falling into lock step for the following reasons (no specific order):
- financial support
- ever expanding laws making almost any citizen a criminal for one thing or another
- jobs; police officers are not going to give up their jobs by taking a stand on individual "rights"
- police and police departments had in the past more discretion in the use of normal common sense (e.g. a warning instead of arrest for brandishing if someone sees your firearm and you're reported; a warning instead of arrest if you're passing through NYC with a legally owned firearm, etc, et al)
- much like politicians, police can find themselves corrupted by the power and little chance of serious consequences for the abuse of that power. (Constitutional rights are being ignored by congress and the president, why should they be upheld by the police?)
- TSA consistantly sets precedent for legal abuse of citizens
- police forces will do what they are told even if it's questionably legal and they can find refuge under "color of law"
- the limited financial ability of most citizens to prosecute illegal police procedures, activity, rights violations, etc against cities, counties, states, and the federal government with essentially unlimited resources to defend themselves or prosecute YOU!

The growing tyranny is becoming increasingly and unceasingly more abusive of our rights and this will become more and more apparent as lower levels of authority becomes more brazen and intrusive upon all of us. Police and police forces will knowingly or unwittingly become the enforcement arm for government of the elite but not for the government of the people.

(In no way am I implying that individual police officers are at the bottom of a cabal to take away the rights of the people and subjugate them. Most LEO's are honorable people with the intention to help and serve. However, when push comes to shove and orders come down from on high, how many of these individual LEO's will recognize that what they are being told to do may in fact be detrimental to our democracy (and their livelihood)and may indeed be the very essence of illegal authoritarian government? How many will or will not carry out these dictates? The answer to these questions will determine to what degree we go down the line of authoritarian rule and a police state. The same questions can be asked of our military as well.)

I just wonder how far people will be pushed before snapping
Eventually that line will be crossed and I would not want to be wearing a uniform with a badge when it happens. Just think if something like Katrina (either natural or man made) happened across the entire US.

Police state and Gastopo mentallity

Just like any business, they need to generate revenue. The days of protect and serve have long passed. I have a friend who lives in a small town, where there are far to many police offices...especially for such a small community. Now, to meet payroll and not have to lay anyone off they must generate revenue. Simple business~terrible ethics.

I sped-read this and will do it justice later but you make some great and truthful points. The turning point for police and their attitude toward their masters, us was their turning to policy and away from solid constititutional awareness - note I did not say constitutional expertise. LEOs take an oath which includes obedience to the Constitution yet I suspect few of them know even its fundamentals, not even the Bill Of Rights. It's our fault of complacency to an extent - more later.

Sounds like my neck of the woods...Just about every town has a "police force", then we have the County Sheriffs & the State Police. There's more cops than there are citizens! At least it seems that way. Instead of meeting payroll, I tend to think of it as "Justifying Their Existence".

I know here that every stop, whether for a tail light out, speeding or whatever is considered a "call" just the same as if someone had called 9-1-1. It all gets put on the reports that justifies us having so many LEO's

Title 18, U.S.C., Section 241 – Conspiracy Against Rights
Title 18, U.S.C., Section 242 – Deprivation of Rights Under Color of Law

IC 35-41-3-2 – Use of force

In Indiana now, if someone (actual cop or not, on duty or off) is attempting to use color of authority to deprive you or your rights, they have stepped outside of the bounds of their office AND by the above U.S. Code, are committing crimes against you, therefore, you are justified in resisting such deprivation of rights by force, up to and including deadly force if it comes to that.

We need schools that teach about the Constitution, the Bill of Rights, and the history of our government and the founders. We do not have a democracy which was considered to be the worse form of government by most of the founders since it does not protect the rights of minorities. We have a republic-the best of all governments. When asked after the Constitutional Convention Ben Franklin said, "we have given you a republic if you can keep it." We are about to lose our country and the Republic. Our schools have intentionally created historical and governmental ignorance. Our political class, particularly the progressives, are increasing their power by cultivating the ignorance of the populace. A police state provides security by deleting our "God given rights." Look for the Obama Administration to create chaos and then declare marshal law in order to provide the security that the incurably ignorant sheep will demand.

" We are about to lose our country and the Republic".

We've already lost it. It's time to get it back if we all unite to cut off the head of the snake--the federal reserve and it's owners and kin. We all must use our rights and defy this tyranny that has taken control and fight back with extreme prejudice if necessary. The big problem is organizing and the fed has us beat on that with all of their technology. With each one of us tied into a computer controlled system I think the best thing that could ever happen to us and the world for that matter is a series of high X class solar flares to take out all the satellites and techno crap they use to level the playing field.

We have a bureaucracies that have added tens of thousands of pages of regulations over the last few years. These are not laws passed by our elected representatives but they do have the force of law. Bureaucracies use these rules to justify their own existence. Congress is also passing laws for the same reasons. Gradually government is taking control of every aspect of our lives. We, the people, have allowed this to happen because we haven't been paying attention. Our liberty, property rights, and control over our lives have deteriorated to the extent that they are mostly gone. If we are going to revive our republic we are going to have to take a stand. We must stand up and say as a nation and individuals that "I WILL NOT COMPLY.". We will have to accept the consequences of our principles, but must eventuality say that the complete destruction of this Republic will NOT happen on our watch.

So what's everyone's plan? Work within the system? :sarcastic:

Let me know how that works out.

I would hope that we can still work within the system but if the expected economic collapse happens all bets are off. As an agland owner in Iowa I realize that there is a government protocol for the nationalization of food production resources. Marshal law and the attempted confiscation of firearms will be likely take place. The second amendment was meant to protect citizens against an out of control government. I and all of my neighbours would strenuously object to any infringement on liberty and property rights. And I would like to say everyone I know is a staunch proponent of the second amendment and the remainder of the Bill Of Rights. I never expected to think about such things in the US but I no longer recognize my country.

I love how everyone is using played out buzzwords like "police state". I do not see tanks in the streets or people being shot for being out after curfew or any of the things associated with that.

What would you like to call it? Explain the militarization of police across the country. Explain the myriads of law suits against police dept's for rights violations, many from SWATing. Explain the police lines in full riot gear pushing and beating people at legal protests. Explain the unconstitutional check points just to check for citizenship or dui's and when someone does not comply and asks why they are being detained and/or under arrest then getting their window broken and dragged out and beaten for resisting a false arrest. Explain why an elderly man protesting and holding an anti-Maobama sign and was thrown to the ground and detained by 3 security guards then arrested by police for refusing to put the sign away. The reason you don't see tanks or armored vehicles and specialized military weapons in the streets is; 1. you haven't been to a G20 or G8 or Bilderberg meeting and 2. we are not under martial law YET but it's coming soon to a town near you when the economy takes it's final dump or another false flag operation takes place.

Excellent post Longslide. Some people refuse to read between the lines.

Tanks in the streets and people being shot for curfew violations are not the only manifestations of a police state, only two of the more egregious. How about police cars blocking the roadways and intersections, detaining citizens without probable cause, or use of unnecessary force up to and including shooting to death detainees who are face down and complying? How about the removal of Habeus Corpus? How about no-knock warrants at the wrong address with no responsibility accruing to the perpetrators?

Regardless of where you, personally draw the line beyond which you are willing to call it a police state, it is less than intellectually honest to deny that rights are being violated everyday by the state. We have fallen far from the level of integrity demanded of us by the Constitution. To denigrate the righteous fears of others is immature and unhelpful.
