I hope the letter has it's intended effect and limits or eliminates any violent confrontations.

That said, I find interesting Mike's approach of "your are not the enemy" when speaking to the NYSP. Fore it will be but a few who are either in charge/leadership roles that will countermand this letter with more dictates and threats of subjugation of employment to force trooper adherence to the LEA's/Administration's diktat.
As long as the SAF Act is viable under NY law they (NYSP) is duty bound to uphold and enforce it. Which puts them in the moral dilemma honoring their oath or doing what they feel is in the best interest of society overall.

We ask our legislators to stop and remember their oath and follow what they swore to uphold, yet this letter asks them to ignore their oath and violate the law themselves.

I understand that the SAF Act is a terrible law and resistance to that law is a worth while effort on the part of citizens who feel their government is infringing upon their rights. If I were a NYS resident I would be among those who would not be registering their weapons and could willing resist efforts to remove them from my possession. But no one is asking me to subvert the law that is my decision based upon my own personal convictions, convictions I will not ask or demand any other to take up or follow...even my wife. That is why I stated "could willing resist efforts", if my wife was in harms way I don't think I could put her life in jeopardy.

My heart goes out to those who will be put into an intolerable position that will confront their convictions to their job and the law. They are going to be tested in a most unfair way. They will suffer consequences that are instigated at the hands of people unwilling to face the consequences of their own actions, expecting other to make that sacrifice.
