The new t.v. show "Revolution" shows why 24-7 gun carrying should be the norm

You never know where you may be when a disaster strikes and who will or won't be around .

It also clearly shows why a government wants to be the only ones with the guns, so the "citizens" can be controlled.

I don't know who writes that show and sure it's a tv program yet it lays it out pretty clear and don't know how any of the so called "ant-gun" activist people could watch that show and still believe their own b.s. because no doubt in my mind they would all want to be carrying under that scenario

Tried watching it on the link provided (too many flipping commercials) Thanks Bill.

Good point, so always surround yourself with people you trust. Although that can be difficult if you want to lead a normal life and interact with the public. It is especially difficult if one travels for a living and you tend to 'be away from home' when the event happens.

To answer the comment about the government wanting the citizens to be unarmed, if I'm not mistaken, in the first few minutes, it states the government fell.So the militia that is setting the the rules are the guys with the guns when the government did fall. Kind of like us. So I can infer that the people we think would be the good guys (us) actually become the bad guys when they take power because they have the guns?

I would imagine the "antis" were the "farmers" that just pay their taxes and want to be left alone. Like the character that came home and knew the event was going to happen. Until people are thrust into a situation that they are completely unfamiliar with, there is not much chance that they will change their minds. Living their lives with out electricity won't do much to change their minds about an anti gun sentiment until the time comes they cannot stand against the power that do have the gun. They can easily stand together against the occasional bully/bad guy but when it comes to changing their minds about guns and gun control, it won't happen until the "militia" come to take what is theirs. JMO.

Which may explain the motive behind the series. "Militia" was turned into an evil term by Clinton to discredit civilian groups who wanted to organize and become more proficient in military-style tactics. So, make the militia the bad guys and the (ex-)sheep the good guys to continue the theme of vilifying the patriots...

Did. I don't care if the main character, who now seems to be the reluctant good guy, was one of the founding fathers of the militia, if the militia is depriving the populace of the God given rights they were born with, then, in my book, they are the bad guy. The militia may have started with nobel cause and goals but along the way it was perverted by power and the desire of a few men. And from the looks of a couple of scenes, the militia is also hiding not only men of good soul but harboring bullies that otherwise would be cowards if not in a group of their fellows.

Exactly, it shows how any acting government authority no matter what name it goes by, has no reason to prohibit gun ownership from the general public other than to totally control them

Depends on where you live.

In Vermont and Arizona "the govt" does not want that.

In DC however they clearly do.

You know... since the way the bad guys find the guns in the hands of the citizens is the shot they hear, maybe a good silencer should be on the shopping list for the short and long guns. Those "bury tubes" are looking better all the time.

During the Clinton Years. Disaster movies all showed the armed redneck as the stoopid idiot. (usually the minority or the female were the smartest people in the room)
The Government wound up as the hero and we were to avoid the militia.

Now NBC comes out with a post apocalyptic series showing something else? Beware of the message they want to convey, and yes I do believe they want to convey a message, do let the tin hat comments begin.

The entire premise of the show is ridiculous.

I agree. I prefer more believable shows like Desperate Housewives because all the women in my neighborhood look and act just like that show. Or the Bachelor, you just know you will find the love of your life after 4 dates with a bunch of other people trying to cut in. Yeah, I'm so glad all the other shows on TV are so believable. :)

Another favorite is the Roadrunner. The last time I had a 30 ton boulder dropped on my head, I walked around looking like an accordian for two months.

The gov isn't taking ur guns away. You have the same gun rights now if now more than you had 4 yrs ago. The anti gun argument doesn't hold any water.

Okay, I finally watched the show. Nothing has changed other than this is a series (soap opera).
Best line in the show.
I had 80 million in the bank and would trade it all for a roll of Charmin.
I told you that toilet paper will be the new luxury item. LOL
Black powder is also a great back up. Now I gotta get that Colt Army or variant of.
Lets see now. Black guy in command. Female Smartest in the room. Geek, geekiness doesn't matter without electricity.
White males Blood thirsty, power mad, militia types.
Nope nothing has changed.

This often happens where tv shows support what the media is saying. For instance: the terrorist threat used to be al-qaeda until a few years ago. Now the supposed new threat are "patriots". People with Ron Paul bumper stickers, reference the constitution, carry roadmaps in their car, have cameras, etc. I'm not kidding... Anyways, IMO this show, while it may be intertaining, is pure propeganda to reinforce the idea that gun owners, returning veterans, christians are the terrorists. I have not seen it but this is what i gather from reviews. I could be wrong about this show but in general this is sop. I liked the show Jericho. I thought that was a good representation of life after some sort of disaster which results in collapse. I'll have to check this one out too.
