The Never-ending search

How many here are constantly searching for the perfect carry gun?

There are so many great guns available to carry it is easy to keep wondering if one of them is better than what you are carrying. Do you try and handle some of these guns at ranges and gun stores?

How many here are constantly seeking to upgrade their carry gun? And how many feel they have it right?

I have looked ay many guns and feel that with a Ruger SR9c, Bersa Thunder .380 and Thunder .32 and a Kel Tec P-32 that I am in good shape and have a nice arsenal of guns which I am confident in carrying.

There are lots of new 'toys' to play with out there; the real question should be how well can you shoot what you have now? and under stress. It generally takes one well placed shot to end a threat. If you can't shoot what you have, spend the new toy money on ammo and range time. The worst case scenario is that you wind up getting a different firearm, but you are at ground zero on the learning to to fire it well curve.

Exactly! Once you find guns to meet your criteria then be sure to shoot them enough. You need to know them well if you ever have to use one. I believe that 200 rounds are needed to break in a semi-auto, then I shoot another 100 of my carry ammo. This should give me a good feel for the weapon.

I have a full size Glock and a subcompact Glock.

Usually carry subcompact Glock on hot days, and full size on cold days.

It's just that easy.

IMO, there's no such thing as a "perfect" carry gun. The number of possible self defense scenarios is nearly infinite, and you could also argue infinitely as to which gun would be "perfect" for each one. Find a gun that you are comfortable handling and carrying. Train with it a lot, become as proficient as you can. How well you think and how much and well you train are much more important than trying to find the "perfect" gun.

I've been there. Carried a J-Frame .38spl +P for over twenty years, but realized one day that I needed more than five rounds on board. Went through several pistols before I found my magic...G26, White Hat IWB holster, and my old Beltman. Perfect!

I carry my full-size Glock all the time. If I had to get a smaller pistol. It would be a Glock to keep the same trigger pull and function.

^^^^ This.

I understand what the OP is going after, but this redirection is an important consideration.
