The Consequence of Civilian Disarmament

In 1995 Britain made the sale, transfer, and possession of handguns absolutely illegal for lawful civilians. At that time, Britain's rate of violent assault was similar to that in the United States. Upon enacting the ubiquitous gun ban, all civilian handguns were confiscated immediately, with all but 8 handguns being accounted for nationwide.

As of 2011, the violent assault rate in the United States is 383 per 100,000, while the violent assault rate in Britain is 3,100 per 100,000.

It is no coincidence that the only industrialized nation to successfully ban and confiscate all civilian handguns has a violent assault rate 800% higher than our own.

Disarming lawful persons on the pretext of achieving societal security serves no purpose other than to embolden criminals with the guaranteed prospect of unarmed victims, and satiate the authoritarian thirst of political elites.
