Moody Blues – Nights In White Satin Lyrics

"Nights in white satin, never reaching the end,
Letters I've written, never meaning to send.
Beauty I'd always missed with these eyes before.
Just what the truth is, I can't say anymore.

'Cos I love you, yes I love you, oh how I love you.

Gazing at people, some hand in hand,
Just what I'm going through they can't understand.
Some try to tell me, thoughts they cannot defend,
Just what you want to be, you will be in the end.

And I love you, yes I love you,
Oh how I love you, oh how I love you.

Nights in white satin, never reaching the end,
Letters I've written, never meaning to send.
Beauty I've always missed, with these eyes before.
Just what the truth is, I can't say anymore.

'Cos I love you, yes I love you,
Oh how I love you, oh how I love you.
'Cos I love you, yes I love you,
Oh how I love you, oh how I love you.

Breath deep
The gathering gloom
Watch lights fade
From every room
Bedsitter people
Look back and lament
Another day's useless
Energy spent

Impassioned lovers
Wrestle as one
Lonely man cries for love
And has none
New mother picks up
And suckles her son
Senior citizens
Wish they were young

Cold hearted orb
That rules the night
Removes the colours
From our sight
Red is gray and
Yellow white
But we decide
Which is right
And
Which is an Illusion"

One of my favorites though the original is from an earlier time.

I'd have to say anything by the Beach Boys, Elvis, James Brown, Jan & Dean, The Drifters, Hank Ballard, or Gene Pitney. Never was too crazy about the British groups or drug culture groups of the 60's.

Yeah baby. They played all those tunes again live in a 2007 re-union concert with Jason Bonham on drums. First time they played under the name led Zeppelin since John Bonham died. The concert is called "celebration day." Check youtube. They tuned down one full tone. Getting older and can't hit those notes.
.
+ anything Hendrix.

Couldn't pick one in particular. All the bands you listed rate highly though. Nights In White Satin is one of my favourite songs.

My second favorite of the 1960's. Maybe it was because at age 19 , I had my first serous girl friend in San Francisco, which was a wonderful place at that time. The Beatles covered this song and did it well. But the original holds up as #1. 1961

"
It's not the way you smile that touched my heart.
It's not the way you kissed that tears me apart.

Many, many, many nights go by.
I sit alone at home and cry over you.
What can I do?
Don't want nobody, nobody
Cause, baby, it's you.
Baby, it's you.

Is it true what they say about you?
They say you'll never, ever, never be true.
It doesn't matter what they say.
I know I'm gonna love you any old way.
What can I do?
What 'bout you?
Don't want nobody, nobody.
Baby, it's you.
Baby, it's you.

Baby.

It doesn't matter what they say.
I know I'm gonna love any old way.
What can I do?
What 'bout you?
Don't want nobody, nobody.
Baby, it's you.
Baby, it's you.

Don't leave me alone.
Come on home.
Baby, it's you.
Baby, it's you.
You know I need your lovin'
You know I love you.
Baby, it's you.
Baby..."

I would say that 95% of the music I enjoy was before 1970. The bulk of my music is from the 50's and 60's. Rock and Country. My "digital" collection. (I had to put it together to listen to in my car.) consists of about 1,200 songs. I think the latest "album" is "Born in the USA."

1969, recorded in Macon, GA at Capricorn Records Studios, the first dual guitar licks from Duane Allman and Dickey Betts heard across the nation was a two-song first-cut of The Allman Brothers Band's debut album entitled, "Don't Want You No More/Not My Cross To Bear." Not necessarily my "favorite" cut from the album (In Memory of Elizabeth Reed and Whippin' Post would probably be tied for that spot), but it's the first cut I heard and I've been a fan ever since. Hearing this for the first time was the precise moment that I knew that blues music would become the genre of choice for whatever career I was able to build from that moment forward, at 14 years old. Spent the next 20 years pursuing it to moderate success, but it never was about the money anyway. As Duane would still be saying if he were alive today, "It's all about hittin' the note!" And The Allman Brothers Band does exactly that here:

Very cool stuff! Love the "Duke" and the Allman's. Was there ever a better time in pop musical history? The '70's were also very copacetic!
