"We don't have money for a security guard, but this is a better solution," Superintendent David Thweatt said. "A shooter could take out a guard or officer with a visible, holstered weapon, but our teachers have master's degrees, are older and have had extensive training. And their guns are hidden. We can protect our children."

The article says that Oklahoma is also working legislation to allow teachers to carry.

Finally - some common sense.

Ya know, if everyone would put their thinking cap on, this is really not a bad idea. Since "when seconds count the police are only minutes away", an alternative is very much needed. The government itself believes that it must have a military superiority to defer and prevent invasion and this is the same thing, only on a smaller scale. Same with cc. Same with HD. Look at Chicago and New York ~ gun control is not working there.

My HD weapons are not there cause I want or desire to shoot somebody, but because I want to protect myself and my family. They too can be a deterrent to psychical violence, more often than not no shots need to be fired.

You may say "You don't know what you're talking about." The truth is about 25 years ago, a BG was trying to break my driver's side window for a carjacking with a BIG knife. I pulled an empty (He didn't know that!) .25 auto, racked the slide as if putting a shell into battery, and said to him "Bud, if you wanna play, we'll play!" He said "No problem!", folded the knife and took off running ~ no shots fired or needed.

The word, my friends, is "DETERRENT!" If a BG doesn't know who has a CCW, he will think twice about trying deadly force there and will search out a place he thinks has no weapons. Only common sense.
