A sheriff's candidate in Central Texas has been charged with misdemeanor assault in an alleged road-rage case.
The Waco Tribune-Herald reported Tuesday that witness cellphone photos and a license plate number led to Edward Leon Rhoudes of Aquilla.
Rhoudes is the Democratic candidate for Hill County sheriff. He faces Republican Michael Cox in the Nov. 6 election.
Affidavits indicate two vehicles nearly collided June 8 on Interstate 35 in Waco.
The car driver pulled off and later reported a man in a pickup followed him, punched him and tried to choke him.
Rhoudes was arrested Friday on a charge of assault causing bodily injury. He's free on $2,500 bond.
