This is the story from the Texarkana Gazette. So it looks like we have another chance to get OC in the law.

"A Texas state lawmaker plans to reintroduce an open-carry handgun bill when the 83rd Legislature convenes next year.
Rep. George Lavender, R-Texarkana, said he wants to make open carry an option to licensed handgun carriers.
He introduced an open carry bill in 2011,... "

I have included a poll that may be informative - feel free to vote.

A clarification may be necessary. The thread subject is OC in Texas, but the poll is for anyone living in any state.
I am just curious as to everyone's choice concerning OC vs. concealed carry.
Thanks

I don't live in TX yet but do own land there. I would open carry at times depending on the circumstances.

Respectfully, given your goal, I think you posted your poll in the wrong subforum. Many concealed carrry only folks probably don't frequent the open carry subforum. It would be interesting to see the exact same question posted in the General section and in the Concealed Carry section and see the difference in results.

Having relatives in Oklahoma and Texas and making many trips to both states. Would really like to OC there. Trying to get support in Arkansas for Open Carry here. May take awhile thou. I don't believe in the element of surprise, just want the sob BG's to leave me alone. I'm too old and disabled to fist fight or run, but I can shoot. If they see that I'm armed just maybe they'll leave me be.
One can always hope.

What really floored me about Oklahoma open carry was that the police officers association was against open carry because they said it would put law enforcement in more danger! Really? So a police officer is in more danger from a gun that he can see the person is carrying than from the gun the person is hiding?

"In 2010, a similar bill was vetoed by then-Gov. Brad Henry, a Democrat, in part based on law enforcement concerns that such a law would make it difficult for officers to sort out the good guys from the bad guys at a crime scene."

Lame...
