Terrible Range Session

Everyone, I had a terrible range session yesterday...couldn't hit the broad side of a barn, and worse, had no idea where I was hitting half the time. And to add to it, I found a brand of ammunition that my 9mm absolutely hates. "MagTech," an imported product from Brazil, I think. Out of 50 rounds, it must have failed to feed 40 times. I only shot all of them because I didn't want to take any of it home. Have never had a problem before this with failures on my 9mm. It really put me off my game, I think.

Anyone have similar experience that leaves you wondering whether you ought to carry at all if you can't hit anything...never had this trouble before. I'm always at least in the 8-ring.

I have not had good results with MagTech ammo either, but the brass reloads just fine, and the reloads are as accurate as any.

Just ran a box of them through my G23. Everything in the 8 ring, not one feed problem or ftt. Haven't used them in 9mm though

I hope there ok I bought a box to use for sd because I didn't have money for another brand ...

you shouldnt trust your life to cheap ammo, your life is worth the extra 10 bucks.

I agree with you just didn't have money . We only had so much to work with . So I had to pay the 105$ to get my gun out of layaway , and it was either a box of 30$ ammo . Or a holster and ammo well I want to be able to carry the weapon with me .

oh dang because i recently bought a thousand rounds of magtech .380 i fired a few boxes off recently at the range and had no problems with it though and hope i don't as i have all of it but those few boxes i fired off left

Sounds awesome but at the same time you might want to try the brand effort spending so much on a lot of ammo ... Mean it's cheaper but glad you haven't had a problem the critical defense and the zombie ammo is awesome always

hi justboxin' i bought that ammo mainly for practice and because the price seems to be going up like everything else but i will get a few boxes of hornady and speer gold dot erm forgot that name off hand but will try that as well and if the boxes cycle through will probably stock up on that as well for personal carry and not so much practice though but just to stock up as we never know when big brother will stop ammo sales or something to that effect or tax the hell out of ammo ........

I'm sorry about your day.... you'll have to go back out there and get some good groupings in again.

Concerning MagTech... I have bought their .40 cal FMJ for my Glock G23. I have never had a FE, FTF, or any other problem. I've put 1000's of rounds down range but I've only put several hundred rounds down range of MagTech. My normal plinking round for the Glock is Blazer Brass and my normal defensive round is Speer Gold Dot. Both of which I have had zero problems with as well.

It's good you know this about your firearm. You'll have to stay away from the MagTech... it'll be tough to do because they are inexpensive for a plinking round.

Scary thought of people taking away guns or ammo ... Glad I have a bigger gun now and a box of 25 rounds to make it to my fathers lol.... I think they have enough weapons to make it a safe place .

If you have an Academy Sports, they have Monarch ammo. I believe it is Russian made. Have heard good reports about the brass cased 9mm, but no one seems to like the steel case because of feed/eject problems. I am a revolver guy so I don't have to worry about feed/eject, but they go bang every time so far (300+ rds.) and are as accurate as better names. Even their 170gr. 30-30 rounds rival the Rem's I usually use, when it comes to accuracy. Um, no I'm not a sales rep. LOL Just wanted to share an inexpensive ammo that I have had good fortune with. So far... Oh, the brass in 357mag. and .38spc. reload nicely.
