Got a question guys n girls. Earlier this month I attempted to purchase a long gun at a Chattanooga dealership only to be denied by the TBI's new system. I filled out the appeals form and faxed it to the TBI along with the disposition form from the arresting department in Georgia with it stating not guilty due to self defense. This charge/case is almost 18 yrs old and has never come up before. I contacted the court in Georgia and was told "our system has been down 4 months and our IT department has yet to fix it". For some reason the charge is showing up but not the disposition.

Any advice on how I should proceed in this case?

I really am sorry to hear about the problem you are having.
Hopefully you saved the documents from the case of self Defence, you described.
I do remember reading and hearing about, instances of old traffic convictions popping up from years back. The records not showing them as paid. Then the person would have to pay the now delinquent fine with interest before they could renew their license! Damn that would hurt!
NOTE TO SELF: save all documents regarding tickets and court cases!
Regarding your case, have you contacted the attorney that served you in that case?

I WOULD RECOMMEND FOR ANYONE WITH PAST CASES CONTACT THE COURT OF RECORD AND PAY TO GET HARD COPIES OF THE CASE AND DISPOSITION! Before you need them!

Because of the work I do and the background checks I submit too (8 this year alone) I do possess my record along with a ton of other documents. I submitted it in paper but to no end.
