So he's being arrested for child pornography, but now they need some more pornographic pictures of him? The whole explicit photos/videos via phone is a terrible idea, stupid, very risky, and just plain icky, but when they're both kids, does it really warrant that? Yes, if someone sent my kid pictures like that I'd be mad (if it was an adult, I'd be beyond livid), but if they're both kids and in a relationship, I wouldn't want to go that far!

I think its insane to go after a kid as a child pornographer, when he is in the same age group as the others he's sexting with. This kid doesn't need or deserve being prosecuted, just some parenting. Child porn laws need to be looked at to reflect minors who are interacting with each other, but not as a business.

Meanwhile most sex offenders aren't on the list. In some states only persons incarcerated or still on probation or parole when Megan's Law was enacted will be required to register. And each gets a classification hearing. That classification hearing has routinely assigned a level-1 to persons convicted of violent sex crimes. Any convicted person not in the system as of the passing of the law skates away free. In reality there are more sex offenders not on the list than there are on it.

I can think of one particular very bad child predator who isn't required to register.
