Teachers and firearms carry - Hickenlooper now "...open to that discussion."

Just two years ago Hickenlooper signed tough gun control bills into law in CO, and he won re-election without changing his stance on gun control and WITH Bloomberg financial backing. Now, he's saying he's had a change of heart, at least where teachers are concerned:

“The ability of people to defend themselves in a world that increasingly looks chaotic [is important]. There is not a parent in this state that doesn't want to make sure we're doing everything possible to make their kid safe."

Don't get me wrong, I fully support teacher carry - but hearing it from THIS GUY'S MOUTH?!

Am I in the twilight zone?

If his stance against carrying was because of Bloomberg's backing you have to wonder where the money is coming from now.
It's all politics, rarely do these politicians do anything without someone buying their integrity.

While they show you what they're doing with their right hand keep an eye on the left.

Words are just words. From a politician they aren't worth the vibrations they make in the atmosphere.

If he takes action to make it happen, that's a whole other thing.
Not holding my breath.

I'm going to ask, who vets the teachers who get to carry? Teachers as a group are not exclusive of unstable personalities...nor are 'authorities' who would vet the teachers...as evidenced by the multitude of abusive LEO threads...
Pointing out that this is not an easy problem to solve by advocating and allowing teachers to carry.

Teachers, and students too for that matter, are citizens too. What part of "shall not be infringed" suggests that it's within government's purview to disallow any group of people their right to bear arms based on their job or their proximity to children?

The Brady/Bloomberg/Moms crowd would just LOVE your line of thinking. Society as a whole is not exclusive of unstable personalities. If we are going to limit carry to just those groups that ARE exclusive of "unstable personalities" NO ONE - INCLUDING YOU - would be "allowed" to carry.

You got me...can't believe that didn't occur to me when I typed that...and appreciate the wake-up call.
