Taurus Revolvers

I've always heard mixed opinions when it comes to Taurus semi-autos. Does anyone here have experience with their revolvers?

Yes, I own two that have worked very well. Both are .38Spl w/ one being a 4" and the other a 2" barreled model. In my experiences, they are great for the money if not any sort of competition tools. Mine have proved accurate and reliable in roughly 500-750 rounds put through each, give or take a few. I keep one as a home defense revolver and the other is a truck weapon, being carried concealed about 20% of the time. Other people haven't been so fortunate...

The best gun for you is,1. one you feel comfortable shooting
2, one you can afford.

There are plenty of revolvers out there that cost alot more than a Taurus,
I have owned 3. One had a problem with the firing pin. Sent it back, they fixed
it free of any charges. Lifetime warranty, to me that says alot.
Find your best deal & buy one. If you don't like it, you should have no problem
selling it.

I have eleven Taurus® revolvers.............
• Mdl 85B2CH 38 Special - 1994
• Mdl 669SS4CP 357 Magnum - 1996
• Mdl 85B2 38 Special - 1997
• Mdl 617SS2 357 Magnum - 2003
• Mdl 605SS3 357 Magnum - 2006
• Mdl 85SS2UL 38 Special - 2007
• Mdl 605SS2 357 Magnum - 2010
• Mdl 605SS2 357 Magnum - 2012
• Mdl 425SS2 41 Magnum - 2012
• Mdl 85SS2UL 38 Special - 2012
• Mdl 992B4 22lr/22Mag - 2013

All have performed superbly and I continue to shoot them all almost every week.

I have only encountered two problems.........
• Mdl 85B2CH broke a firing pin after 11,000+ rounds. I replaced the firing pin & it's still going strong.
I have zero complaints with Taurus® customer service. The one time I had to send a gun in they fixed and returned it when they said they would. Specifically.....................
• Mdl 617 developed excessive cylinder to forcing cone gap (.011") after almost 6,000 rounds. I sent it to Taurus® and they replaced the cylinder and adjusted the crane and yoke. I've since put 2,000+ rounds through it and it's still going strong.

I will not hesitate to buy additional Taurus® revolvers.
They are an outstanding value.

You mention both revolvers and semi autos, so I'm not sure which you're interested in. As far as revolvers, I bought a taurus 65 which is a 357 magnum with 4 inch barrel about 4 months ago and like it. For semi auto i chose a S&W and like it too.

i have owned a few Taurus revolvers, i've found that after a half day of shooting, they start to jam up. They get a little dirty and the cylinder doesn't want to turn easily. I have since become a S&W buyer and swear by their quality.

I have a pair of taurus revolver now, a 651 and a Judge. Both are reasonably accurate and function flawlessly. I have had a Taurus Model 44 and it was awkward, unbalanced, and clunky. The trigger would bind if you tried to shoot double action. And at 25 yards it would shoot 3-4 FOOT groups. I guess 2 out of 3 aint bad.

As far as semi auto's go, I've only seen good reviews on Taurus' 738 TCP for those who like pocket pistols. I don't own a pocket pistol yet, but if (when?) I get one, it's one of several I'd like to try - though at this point I think I would prefer a 9mm over a 38 for even a pocket pistol. Here's a nice review on the tcp and there are also a few youtube video reviews out there:

I'd like to thank everyone for the input. I have been interested in purchasing a revolver lately. I've always been dedicated to my semi autos. I don't know a great deal about wheel guns but I've always like them. I read in another thread within this group a while back about Taurus semi autos being great guns at their price point. I just wondered if the revolvers fit that bill as well. I think I'll do more research before taking that leap.

Own several and like most guns the quality can be hit or miss. I have had better luck with the Revolvers then the Semi-Autos.

Biggest problems I've seen are heavy trigger pull on the .22lr versions and gumming up after several hundred rounds (again on the .22lr versions).

The 4" .357 Mag version I have has worked flawlessly.
