Taurus Brand

Thank you all for your reply's and keep them coming please. Any semi that is concealable, won't pull my pants down, is good at25-40 feet, with knock down power. Right now I have several revolvers and I use hollow point 38s. I also have a 32 Magnum, a 22 7-shot revolver, small 25 7 shot semi.

I'm a big 9mm fan.I have the taurus PT111 milpro 9mm and it's lightweight,very accurate with adj. sights
and enough firepower for your needs. You can experiment with different loads to see what's best for you.I don't think taurus suggests you use +P loads but I'm sure there is a grain load out there that they suggest you stop at not sure what that is but I'm looking also to see how high you can go keeping the thought of not damaging the gun.

Shingman2 - I own three Taurus products, ie.; PT738 in .380 cal., PT145 .45 acp, and my favorite - my PT709 Slim 9mm. All three weapons are very accurate, and very reliable. I also own two Beretta's; an older Model 51 9mm, and a 92f, both great weapons, but I'll take my Taurus pistols over the Beretta's anyday of the week. When I purchase another handgun you can bet it'll be another Taurus... this time I want the seven shot .38spl Model 817 compact revolver. You can pick up one of these for from $360.00 to $400.00. As for my 709 slim? try 500 + rds. no glitches. Can Glock, S&W or Colt say that?

In the low $300 range Dick.
Ck out Gunbroker.com and bid
on one you like, that's how i found mine for $325.00

Actually, each of my Taurus manuals, and their brochure, claims to handle a "steady diet of +P ammo" . So while they disclaim warranty if you shoot handloads, SAAMI-compliant +Ps should be no problemo. Of course, finding them might be...

My wife and I each have a Taurus 709 slim 9mm between the two guns there is well over 3000 rds thru them absolutly NO compaints

Shingman Taurus has one of the best warranties on the market today. I purchased a model 605 .357 for my wife and she loves it. Taurus has come a long way in this industry and haven't heard much bad about them.

Have a 357 MOD 65 like Ringo only with blue finish. Comfortable in the hand, balance well but EXTREMELY loud shooting mag.'s. But have owned since 04, shot probably 600 rounds through it and never had any issues. Put 38 spec. +P's when the wife's needs to carry. All around a product for the price. I believe I spent 360.00 for it, 2004 prices.

I agree mappow the balance is great, and with the Hogue Monogrip it fits my hand like a glove and points like a natural. Very little recoil , a straighter shooter, and built like a tank. I wanted the stainless MOD but none were available when I purchased it. Because it's a keeper and I couldn't get a stainless MOD, I had it nickle plated.

I own the 809 out of the box before the first cleaning i put 200rds down range ... i figured if it was goin to break this would be the test.... and it performed extremly well... i had two ftfs with it but on further examination of the rounds it was due to bad primers and not the pistol...i took it home and gave it a thourough cleaning and took it to the range two weeks later ... and all i can say is it is extremely accurate... i was able to blow a 3 inch hole at 25 yds.... i love the taurus brand and would have purchased the 709 slim but they were out of stock everywhere i looked so i settled on a keltec pf9....

the general opinion in my gun shot by all of the sales associates is that they make very nice revolvers but the autos are pretty shitty. i personally know of a friend of mine who bought one and the first time he took it to the range it broke, 3 shots in and he had to send it out. the guys at the store were not surprised at all. I.MO for around 400 you can find a glock that will be more than reliable to you than any taurus ever would

Your "friend" probably failed to clean all the Factory gunk out of the gun. Most problems straight out of the box are usually due the user NOT reading the Owners Manual first... All of them that I've read clearly state to break the gun down and thoroughly clean it "prior" to shooting the damned thing! I get tired of Taurus, or any other firearm taking a bad rap for the user's stupidity! I own a PT145, PT709SS, 738-TCP, and a PT25 and they all operate flawlessly. Glock has had their share of Slides breaking too, so their not the hot article some believe them to be. :pleasantry:
