Target Stands

I have been to a few gun shows, and shopped at online stores and brick and mortar stores as well, but the one product I am unable to find is a good target stand.

Anybody have any suggestions?

With campaign season coming up, just get a sign of a candidate you dislike and tape or draw a target on it, and wellah, you have a target stand. I've been using one for a couple years, since the last election.

you can make your own with PVC pipes and 1x1 wood
You don't even really need the wood.

I built a light tent from PVC for photographing handguns and other small subjects. PVC is reasonably priced, and incredibly easy to work with. It's trivially easy to build an easily disassembled target stand from it. Even better, if you accidentally damage it, you need only pull the damaged section and replace it.

There are a couple threads of "how to make (or how I make) a target stand".

I posted one that uses seven 2x2s and some string & cardboard that is foldable, light, and very portable.

Just do a search on "target stands" and it'll give you a list of links.

tcox4ffreedom, I like your simple design. I'm going to build three for myself and two sons. They'll be durable and easy to transport. Thanks

+1 I still have a stack of them of last season that i ordered directly from the candidate. Great targets, puts a dent (albeit a minor one) in their funds lol.

Make em out of wood to the specifications that you want. You can make single target stands, you can make target stands that have a left and right arm that can hold small targets (cans, bottles, etc.), and you can make multiple target stands. If you make it: A) it will be cheaper, B) it will be the way YOU want the stand to be, and C) if it starts becoming used and abused, you can fix it.

Here are some ideas for you to get you started: Link Removed

want a simpler idea? I use 2 STRINGS, strung between 2 trees. One string about 8" above and parallel to the other. I print my targets on 8.5x11" paper, bend it over along the top and HANG it on the top string. Bottom string keeps it vertical and stable. If really windy, I rip up the center of the bottom an inch or so and straddle the lower string with this to keep it in place. or bend bottom up like top and put a small stick in the fold to weigh it down.

I tried spring loaded clothes clips to hold them at first but somehow they seemed to get shot every 50 rounds or so!

Takes about 1000 rounds to finally hit the string and break it. Then I string up a new one. :)

I picked up 30 of them after the last election. They work well, are free, and there are plenty of them available the day after the election.
