Taking an Oath

The following was posted on my Facebook wall by a group I follow. It's very interesting and if true, rather alarming. I know nothing about the oath that the armed services administer so I'm asking you. I know some of you are still on active duty or know someone who is. Does anyone here have inside information that's up to date?

"One Million Mothers for Gun Rights
Ok I have a question I need to ask. I have been given some info and as you can imagine this is not just check a website to verify! So we need to pull any resources possible to verify, if true make it known.

My son-in-law is a USN Corpsman, so my information comes from "the inside". I keep reading/hearing about how our military has taken an oath to uphold our Constitution from all enemies foreign & domestic & this WAS true until the current administration changed the oath to suit their own agenda. My daughter has informed me that the oath now states that they will defend the "office of the president", NOT the Constitution. I'm just thinking that this is something our citizenry needs to be made aware of, as well as the consequences of this change.
Please feel free to verify this & post your findings. Assuming this is true changes the entire ballgame."

Trollin', trollin', trollin', trollin', trollin', trollin', trollin', trollin', trollin'.

My nephew is in basic at Ft. Benning and I asked him about taking the oath when I saw something similar post on the 'Net and his response was "That's BS, Uncle Paul!"

Paul

The current oath states: "I, _____, do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; and that I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the orders of the officers appointed over me, according to regulations and the Uniform Code of Military Justice. So help me God."

The Oath of Office (for officers):

"I, _____ (SSAN), having been appointed an officer in the _____ (Military Branch) of the United States, as indicated above in the grade of _____ do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign or domestic, that I will bear true faith and allegiance tot he same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservations or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office upon which I am about to enter; So help me God."

Go to "OathKeepers.org. In the right hand column you will find both the Enlisted Mans Oath and the Officers Oath. Note that in both, the Constitution is stated first and is first on the priority list for both. Same oath taken by the president, all members of congress, every law enforcement officer and every veteran in this country. It's a shame that so many are willing to give it all up for a party.

Where have we gone and where are we going? Take a hint from Egypt and Syria. Once you give up your rights they are gone and gone forever. Even war won't get them back.

I am reasonably sure that this rumor is untrue. I don't make many posts, but I do read the posts on the Oath Keepers member's forums. I am reasonably certain that such a development would have been mentioned. I believe that Obama doesn't trust the military and would love to disarm veterans. The military, present and retired, still take their oaths seriously to support and defend the constitution.

I'm currently on active duty and have administered the oath many times over the past 24+ years. There has been no change to the text.

Many state employees also have taken oaths but in my case, no pledge to any President is in it. Only the State and US Constitutions. Current FL oath for employees.
I,__________________________ , a citizen of the State of Florida and of the United States of America, and being employed by or an officer of _____________________ and a recipient of public funds as such employee or officer, do hereby solemnly swear or affirm that I will support the Constitution of the United States and of the State of Florida.

But we all know how serious the prez and congress have taken that oath. And that was the reason I asked about it.
