I'm looking to purchase a tactical style 22LR. I don't know much about them.
I don't want a cheap piece of junk nor do i want the top of the line.
Price scale from 1-10 looking for a 8. Quality and price.

any ideas, anyone have experiance with these type of .22LR's

Ruger makes some of the best 22's.

As does Sig Sauer.

My 22LR was a Colt Woodsman, but these are no longer manufactured. And the Woodsman was a hunting handgun for backpackers, not tactical like the modern Ruger's and Sig's.

Get a ruger 10/22. Then get the Hightowerarmory, com p90 bull up tactical kit. Well worth the money and just about to hit the market. I've test fired a few and the quality is unmatched

The Ruger 10/22 is an excellent platform to begin with. There are so many configurations to choose from so you can "tac" it up any way you want from a sniper style with a bull barrell to one with accessory rails and ajustable stock. Price, even after any accessories or replacement stock, would be within your range. Most if not all modifications are simple enough to perform on your own with alan wrenches and a screw driver so it also makes a fun project. That being said I would also say the other posts so far are great advice too. Just depends on the style and exactly how much you want to spend and if you want to turn it into a small project.
Have fun deciding!

Pardon my ignorance, please. I'm new to handguns. What is the difference between tactical style & others?

Tactical just means adding an accessory or feature that may give the weapon an advantage. This could be a light to help the user see in the dark better to a scope to help the shooter hit a long range target. It could apply to handguns, rifles, shotguns, etc.

Tactical is used when selling firearms to make then KEWL so mall ninjas want then and pay more for them. The words meaning has been severely bastardized.

Uses the same handguards\stocks\grips\etc as a regular AR-15. You can find them for $500-550 new, not sure used but can't be too much more than $400.

There are several different flavors out there and they're all good. You just have to decide which one is best for you. I have a Ruger SR-22 which is basically a 10/22 fitted with AR furniture. It also uses standard 10/22 magazines. It's all aluminum and rugged as most Rugers are. Colt & Smith & Wesson have their versions of the AR-22 with plastic hardware. You could do a Google search on all of them and get reviews. I'm sure there are some youtube videos out there as well. Pick the one that you think fits you the best.

Start with a Ruger 10-22, arguably the best semi auto .22 rifle going. Secondly, get a copy of the book, 'Customizing the Ruger 10-22.' There is a plethora of accessories for the 10-22 out there, and you can go from mild to wild. My 10-22 has a tactical stock, scope, bipod and I have 25-rd magazines for it. On the end of the barrel is a decorative flash hider, and I have only scratched the surface. The Ruger must be a top-notch rifle, as I have seen photos of the 10-22 being used by Israeli troops. I eventually plan to get the Archangel stock package. You can tie up a lot of coin in the 10-22, just to make it your own

Check Boyds gun stocks for nice stocks for 10/22. I bought 2 for both of my 10/22 along with E.R. Shaw fluted ss barrels.
Super accurate package.

I would take a Ruger 10/22 and drop it into an aftermarket tactical stock. With a 25 or 50 round magazine (50s can be found at shows and pawn shops), you'll have everything you need.
