[h=1]WEAPONS AFFECTED BY THE NEW GUN LAWS[/h]Realizing that the New York Safe Act may generate questions from gun owners and members of the public, a list of weapons that are classified as "assault weapons" are listed below. The new law places restrictions on the ability to purchase these weapons or to transfer them to another person. Under the new statute, those who lawfully possess these weapons prior to the enactment of this law must register them within one year of the effective date of the statute. This list is intended only as a guide and is not meant to be an exclusive, exhaustive list as there may be additional weapons that will also meet the amended definition under the new law.
For those seeking additional details about this new law, we have included a link to the legislation. Please Link Removed to read and download the actual bill and Link Removed to read the memorandum in support.

Yeah i have some family that live there and they are all moving back up here to TN. And the new gun laws is why they are. I would never live in a city that deals with that kinda BS. Talk about invasion on second amendment !

I have a Kel Tec Sub 2000. I didn't see it on the list. The Beretta cx4 Storm is similiar too but I didn't see it on the list. Do you know if they are illegal too now or is the list fully complete?

Thanks

It doesn't have to be on the list, if it has a removable magazine and one military feature, it's banned. Currently owned ones must be registered (for now).

I'm concerned about the definition of criminal possession of a weapon:

S 265.01 Criminal possession of a weapon in the fourth degree.
A person is guilty of criminal possession of a weapon in the fourth
degree when:

(1) He or she possesses any firearm, electronic dart gun, electronic
stun gun, gravity knife, switchblade knife, pilum ballistic knife, metal
knuckle knife, cane sword, billy, blackjack, bludgeon, plastic knuckles,
metal knuckles, chuka stick, sand bag, sandclub, wrist-brace type sling
shot or slungshot, shirken or "Kung Fu star";

Ammo purchase in NY

If I am reading correctly in NY they now do a background check every time you buy ammo. I am assuming that also means they are tracking how much ammo you buy. Wonder if those who purchase a lot of ammo will get a visit from big brother. How is this going to stop crime? They just do not get that criminals do not follows laws.
Cannot imagine how long it will take the clerk at Walmart to do this, just getting them to open the case takes forever:fie:

Gotta do what ya gotta do. Move or put up with it. It's your choice.

Yep, I moved outta Mass back in '87. I don't even want to visit that depressing chit hole of a state anymore. :nono:

That whole northeast sucks.

I believe the ammo background check does not start until one year after the law was signed. But yes, it does require that the seller provide detail info on what you buy!!! I assume they will visit people who buy more than "they" think is reasonable! Let's hope it gets over turned on constitutional grounds!!

I am hoping our super majority republican house and republican governor here in Indiana, give us some layer of protection for our second amendment right. I never would have dreamed 15 or 20 years ago what has happened in this country in the last four years.

Actually, being a NY'er is voluntary. It sucks to be a subject, but volunteering to be one is just stupid.

That's not a knock on NY'ers though, because the federal government is only a short step or two behind the NY Oligarchy. We all are, at the very most, just a few years from having to decide what amount of tyranny we're willing to volunteer for. NY is our future.....if we let it be. And if NY'ers mount a viable defense against this tyranny and we're not behind them, then that answers the question of what are we willing to volunteer for.

Blues

I just cannot understand, even before this "legislation" was unceremoniously passed, why anyone would live in New York. Was this jewel a referendum on any ballot or did the NY congress just see fit to pass it? If I lived there, I don't care what political affiliation I am, if there was a candidate running that promised to appeal this POS I'd vote for them and vote any POS that voted for it out!

I will like to state that many areas in NY "Upstate" are very nice, low crime and friendly areas, just like NJ. I will even state that there are gorgeous areas of Long Island, where neighbors are friendly. The problem is Downstate (Westchester, Yonkers, etc..) & NYC with their crime problems! I am willing to bet that most of the anti-gun bills are initiated by City politicians in NYC which subsequently effects the entire state. Mayor Bloomberg lives in a city where Conceal Carry is non-existent, extremely strict rifle ban (no ARs & nothing over 5 rounds) and an expensive, long and tedious process of getting a premise permit and only allowing a permit holder to purchase up to 2 guns a year along with registration and inspection. Yes, every firearm purchased has to be inspected and registered with the NYPD within 72 hours of purchase and it takes appx. 6 months to obtain a Pistol Purchase Authorization Card.

It's sad that the good folks upstate NY and Long Island are subjugated to the non-sense of the lower parts of the State.

It gets better, NY does NOT allow referendums!! That is unless the legislature approves one which will never happen!!!
