Not sure what's more stupid...

...the fact that from reading the story, it appears the cop used an egregious amount of unwarranted force, in addition to purportedly (i.e. according to the girl) claiming he gave her a ticket only so he could justify using the pepper spray...

... or the fact that she's now playing the victim card, and doesn't seem to have much justification for "can't be around a big crowd without being scared"..

I think both sides need a good healthy dose of GROW UP! Geez, people.

Because there are two sides to every story, we don't have enough info to take anyone's side or defend the LE's actions. However; we can probably be assured that the grievous harmed claimed by the teenager is exaggerated. I mean really..."Just to be able to sleep again, feel safe again, to talk to people like I used to," she said. "Now I don't like being in contact with people; I can't be around a big crowd without being scared." ~ Welcome to America and the politics we leave under...you should feel this way all the time!

None of us were there to see the girls actions before the video was edited to show ONLY her getting detained, so my best guess is that she wasn't being the good little girl she should have been by staying HOME where her 15 year old butt needed to be. You go to a party where there's alcohol and you are 15, you're gonna get in trouble. When you get in trouble, you take the consequences you are delt because of your actions, don't blame someone else for your stupidity.

Like...Like...Like!
I could not agree with you more! =-)

Ive had to break up my share of 15 year old fights in my career. I'm not an LEO, however, whether they're 15 or 35 they can still do harm to you. Direct and decisive action needs to be taken in those situations. If someone gets "scrapped up" due to being detained I can assure you they were not compliant nor had the idea to comply; getting thrown to the ground is normal in those situations. Kids today don't throw a few punches and then make up. They fight to hurt. If this officer knocked the teeth out of her head it would be warranted IMHO. Maybe she'll learn not to act like an animal In public, but probably not.

The teen says she wants her life back. "Just to be able to sleep again, feel safe again, to talk to people like I used to," she said. "Now I don't like being in contact with people; I can't be around a big crowd without being scared."

And a big dollar pay out will help her regain her life. Give me a break. Another punk teen busted caught in the act and she got body slammed by a cop. Oh! Boo Hoo! More than likely Momma saw dollar signs when she had to bail her baby out of jail.

I teach in a high school and I can say for a fact, that at least where I am, the girls are nastier and dirtier at fighting than any of the guys. I'd love to have seen the video before the cop detained her to see what she had done. I bet it wasn't pretty. We also don't see when the LEO sprayed her in the face. What was she doing at that point that warranted a higher level of action on the cop's part?

There are a lot of unanswered questions. I could easily see where this little "cherub" wasn't being the angel she should have been.

And again, as with every news report, "police would not comment on the case"... DUH!!!! It's an ongoing lawsuit against them... they are not allowed.

Our daughter passed away at a young age do to heart problems, but at 15 out drinking daughter or sons (have 3 all grown men) would have had their butt spanked. Can't speak to cop and pepper spray was not on scene, but from having a lot of young women in the family 1 yr to 25, I know what Outlaw is speaking about.
