A week or so ago a trial started of a local well known doctor charged with running down and killing a 19-year old woman who was skateboarding home from her job as a store clerk.
The doctor fled the scene but he surrender later that night. The prosecution claims he was drunk and that he knew he had hit a person. The doctor claims he wasn't drunk and that he didn't know he had hit her.
Two local top attorneys are butting heads on this case. Jury selection took more than a week. They thought they had probed for every possible trait that might hint of prejudice for either side.
Apparently they forgot to ask "are you an alcoholic?"
Six days after the start of the trial Juror #4 called in and said he couldn't attend the trial because he had "car trouble." The trouble with his car was that he had smashed it into a light pole and blew a .225 on the breathalyzer.
Juror in NY doc's hit-run trial removed after DWI
If the doctor is convicted I wonder if he'll end up cellmates with Juror #4
