storage of firearms during the night

NOLA Carry

Just wanted to know what wear some of the ways people stored there weapons during the night. I keep mine on the night stand, but for a while I kept it under my pillow.

Is this thread for real? Is this english? Where the heck does someone who is involved in this forum think we keep our firearms at night? Truly am sorry NOLA but I am still shaking my head and feeling a bit sorry for you if this is real.

I keep my gun in my safe, unloaded, and with a trigger lock on it. I keep my ammo locked up and separated from my gun in its own hidden safe. Obviously this is what every responsible gun.owner must do to ensure the gun doesn't sneak out and kill people while we are asleep.

Household locked up tight.
German Shepherd keeping watch nearby as we sleep...."Gooood Boy!" :-)
Numerous sidearms & flashlights all within quick/easy access to both my wife and I.
12 gauge Mossberg pump action shotgun (locked & loaded -w- 00 buckshot) on side of the bed.
Alarm systems set.

You may ask, "What are you guys so afraid of ??"

My reply, "Absolutely Nothing." =-)

Pay no attention to the troll from defensive carry .com (aka fuddville)

Why're y'all going to all this trouble for? I just stuck a Gun Free Zone sign on the bedroom wall above the bed to keep the bad guys out.

I believe in a safe with quick access is the way to go.I have a lab that will wake me if anybody is even near my house that shouldn't be.A good dog is your best friend at night. If need be my safe can be opened and firearm ready to go in under 5 seconds literally. My dog will have already caused a huge distraction for BG so I will be at the advantage

Very good answer I love smart alecs:laugh:

Looks like the nightstand is the winner for the handgun and a shotgun next to the bed somewhere very popular as well. Both are good, I keep 1 handgun & two Mossberg shotguns, one .410 with #4 Buck and a 20g with 3" 7/8oz #2 shot. Start with the .410 and move up if needed. I'm thinking a face shot with the .410 would likely deter most people and give me time to grab the heavier artillery if needed.

The wife has a Ruger 357 on her side. There are other handguns stashed in tactical locations around the house, plus some rifles/shotguns. No small kids in our house.

That'll keep 'em out of the bed. Put one on the front and back doors if you want to keep them out of the house. It might even keep the ATF out if they know you don't have any guns there....

lol bill! i keep mine near my bed at night fully loaded and ready to go .....hopefully i won't have to need to use it
i have no small children in the house so i'm comfortable with it that way but a well hidden gun safe would be good to have if i'm going somewhere and have to leave the gun at home for any stretch of time

Is southwest Ohio anywhere near Afghanistan? I am both amazed by your preparedness and your opinion of your surroundings. I am hesitant to ask how many rounds of ammunition you have and whether you have a doomsday shelter.

Combo safe between bed and night stand, loaded and one in the chamber. 12 Gauge near by. While the wife calls 911 I'll be aiming!!!
