Stoeger Cougar 9mm

The Stoeger Cougar 9mm is the nicest handgun I've ever owned. I have the Cougar compact, same as the regular Cougar but a shorter grip and 13 rounds instead of 15.

Right out of the box this gun is awesome, tough Bruniton finish. When you rack the slide it's like it is gliding on ball bearings, smoooth. Everything works exactly as it should, tight but not over-tight. You hold this all metal gun and know it is well made. It almost makes it seem unbelievable you got the gun for such a decent price. A quality gun.

I like it so much I just bought another, but this one will never be shot. Something I very seldom do, but I want this one to show people 20 years from now.

If you can find one to shoot or handle do so. You will see the excellent quality of this gun. Accurate, dependable, low recoil, just a nice shooter.

And they come in .40 S&W and .45 acp also.

I concur. I carry the Stoeger Cougar 8040F and have at least 3000 rounds thru it. I have never had a single issue. Quality and value!

So far 50/50 on Stoeger.. 8040 no problems
.9 mm my lemon. Ftf almost every 3rd round. Could not get rid of fast enough.

I bought a Stoeger Cougar 8000 in 40 S&W (yes an 8000 not 8040), a few years ago. Because I was intrigued with it's unique rotating barrel. I really like this gun; the way it feels in my hand, relatively minor recoil, and just a really good looking gun.

Like the gun so much, I bought the 8000L 9mm,which has a slightly shorter grip and holds a few less rounds.

Next on my wish list is the Cougar in .45.

The great majority of people who buy a Stoeger Cougar are pleasantly surprised. They will amaze you, especially for the affordable price. They are as good as many more expensive guns, maybe better.
