States with mag cap limits?

What all states have magazine capacity limits? Of those, do they ban larger magazines regardless of what you have in them, or are they like NY where you can have larger, it can only have the max number? And also, do the states specify whether the mag capacity includes the +1 or if they discount the chambered round?

I'll start.

PA does not have magazine capacity limits for handguns nor rifles.

However, for hunting, one may not use a semi-automatic rifle... bolt action only, and yet we still have more registered hunters than any other state. Go figure.

Florida has no limits except when hunting. Ohio says you can't have more than 30 round mags and also other limits when hunting.

CA and MA have 10 round limits, NJ has a 15 round limit for handguns. in some states some municipalities have limits stricter than the state limits.
as always get very familiar with the laws of anyplace that you plan on bringing your weapons to

NY 7 round limit was overturned by the western district fed court as unconstitutional. 10 rounds +1 in the pipe.

Delaware has no limits as of yet. they tried to get a 10 round limit last year, but the bill was defeated. We have a plugged 3 round shotgun hunting rule, except there is a unplugged 5 round season for deer hunting. I carry a 9MM for everyday and it had two 17+1 round mags. standard. I bought 2 other 10 mags. incase the law changes, and they get scarce. I bought them through a place called IvanhoeWarehouseOutlet.com in Ma. on line. they were about half the factory list and were Ruger factory pack mags. So, either I'm set if the law changes or I have enough capacity to carry 55 rounds at once. Fot that I will probably need a heavy duty belt and rope suspenders.(humor)

California has a 10 rnd limit on handguns and I do not know the current rifle limits

Ohio: legal to own any size but you can't insert any mag holding more than 30 rounds into a firearm due to this definition in the law:

(E) "Automatic firearm" means any firearm designed or specially adapted to fire a succession of cartridges with a single function of the trigger. "Automatic firearm" also means any semi-automatic firearm designed or specially adapted to fire more than thirty-one cartridges without reloading, other than a firearm chambering only .22 caliber short, long, or long-rifle cartridges.

I thought that only applied to part of New York state. The rest is covered by a different court? I read that in the news so it may well be anti propaganda.

I actually would have no idea, but from what I understand, if it were a state law then that couldn't be. You could not have a state law that part of the state is exempt from and others aren't.

Currently, CO has a 15 round limit... We'll see how long that lasts. :)

Worth noting is that since no one actually makes a 15 round magazine for most of the popular magazine fed rifles what Colorado actually has is a 10 round limit at least for rifles

I'm not sure what you're trying to say. Nobody makes a 15 round magazine for popular rifles, so the non-existence of them constitutes a ban?

"Under House Bil 1224, the term 'large capacity magazine' is defined, in part, as follows: 'a fixed or detachable magazine, box, drum, feed strip, or similar device capable of accepting, or that is designed to be readily converted to accept, more than fifteen rounds of ammunition.'"

Sorry I suppose I could have been clearer.

The law prohibits any magazine that holds more than 15 rounds. The problem is magazines for rifles such as the AR or the AK or the Mini 14/30 and such only come in 10 and 20 round sizes. Since there are no 15 round magazines available you can only legally buy the next size down which means what they got was a defacto 10 round limit.

Buy an M1 Carbine, problem solved.

Ah, ok. I get it now.

I saw a picture of a 20-round revolver. No way to conceal it, but I wanted to find and buy it just because!

As I understand it, that is technically correct. However, Coumo and law enforcement seemed to concede that since a Federal judge deemed the 7 round limit unconstitutional, it would be unlikely that another lower court would or could uphold the 7 round limit in Safe Act prosecutions.

I am personally unsure if I will take the chance of loading more than 7 rounds until the dust settles on this issue.

As for hunting in NY, there is a 5 round limit.... although I find it interesting that Emperor Coumo doesn't even know NY law when he's propagandizing guns. He continually screams "YOU DON'T NEED 30 ROUNDS TO KILL A DEER"....while state hunting laws forbid more than 5 rounds for hunting. A liberal never lets the facts get in the way of their "feelings" and their point of view.
